Ansul R-102 Restaurant Fire Suppression System

Description

Kitchen fire protection for commercial cooking

The Ansul R-102 restaurant fire suppression system protects commercial cooking appliances and the ventilation above them. Ansul describes it as the top choice of food service kitchens worldwide and designed for fryers, griddles, range tops, broilers, char-broilers and woks, as well as hoods, ducts, plenums and auxiliary grease extraction devices. It uses ANSULEX low pH liquid agent, which knocks down flames, cools hot surfaces and forms a vapour-securing blanket that helps prevent reflash.

Two ways to design the protection

The appliance-specific design aims nozzles at hazard areas on each appliance and typically uses the least liquid agent, reducing tank size, quantity and hardware. The overlapping zone design places nozzles in a straight line with overlapping discharge patterns, so appliances can be replaced or rearranged under the hood without redesigning the nozzles.

The system uses a gas cartridge to expel agent, and a flexible agent distribution hose lets appliances be moved for cleaning without disconnecting the piping. Listed applications include catering facilities, cafes, cafeterias, restaurants, convenience stores, delis, fast food chains, food courts, food trailers and trucks, hospitals, hotels and casinos, and sports complexes and stadiums.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm the appliance line-up, hood and duct dimensions, the fuel type (gas or electric appliances need a shutoff plan), the number of tanks and the local code that applies. The overview lists no part numbers or tank capacities; the system is sized from the manufacturer design manual.

About brand

Ansul is an American fire suppression brand that began in 1915 in Marinette, Wisconsin, as the Ansul Chemical Company, founded by Francis G. Hood; the name comes from anhydrous sulfur dioxide. Ansul started making fire suppression chemicals in 1934. It became part of Wormald in 1978 and of Tyco in 1990, and is now a brand of Johnson Controls.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Ansul systems for fire protection contractors and facilities in Oman and the GCC.

Ansul product series

Gaseous systems include the INERGEN clean agent system and the INERGEN iFLOW regulated flow inert gas system, the HYGOOD Inert Gas System 300 (IGS-300), the SAPPHIRE system using FK-5-1-12, the FM-200 clean agent system and the high pressure carbon dioxide system.

Special hazard systems include the R-102 restaurant kitchen system, the A-101 dry chemical vehicle system and a lithium-ion risk prevention system for off-gas detection in battery rooms.

Inert gas systems such as INERGEN and IGS-300 use a blend of naturally occurring gases and leave no residue, while chemical clean agents such as FK-5-1-12 and HFC-227ea need less storage space. Carbon dioxide is used in unoccupied areas, and wet chemical systems such as R-102 protect kitchen cooking appliances, hoods and ducts.

Where Ansul systems are used

Server rooms, control rooms, switchgear rooms and archives, turbine and engine enclosures, commercial kitchens, mining and heavy vehicles, and battery energy storage.
