Pepperl+Fuchs HD2-FBPS-1.25.360 Fieldbus Power Supply Module

Description

HD2-FBPS-1.25.360 fieldbus power supply module for the Power Hub

The HD2-FBPS-1.25.360 is a plug-in power supply module for the FieldConnex Power Hub. It converts the bulk 24 V supply into the 25 to 28 V, 360 mA supply for FOUNDATION Fieldbus H1 or PROFIBUS PA trunks, with galvanic isolation between segment and bulk supply.

The code reads HD2 for the Power Hub range, FBPS for fieldbus power supply, 1 for simplex single-module use, 25 for the minimum output voltage in volts and 360 for the output current in milliamps. The KLD2-FBPS-1.25.360 has the same output but in a separate DIN rail housing.

Seven Star LLC supplies this module in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

How the HD2-FBPS-1.25.360 supplies a segment

The module takes the bulk 24 V DC from the hub motherboard, regulates the segment voltage and provides the impedance conditioning needed for fieldbus communication. Because the output is 25 to 28 V at 360 mA, it supports long trunks and many devices, and is meant for live work at spurs using fieldbus couplers with intrinsically safe outputs.

In redundant mode two modules sit in parallel so that a failed unit is covered without interrupting the segment, and a module can be exchanged without tools while the hub operates.

System fit and related parts

The HD2-FBPS-1.25.360 is one component of a modular hub. Pair it with the HD2-DM-A for diagnostics, and with segment protectors or couplers in the field. For single DIN rail mounting, the KLD2-FBPS-1.25.360 is the matching standalone power supply. For PROFIBUS DP gateway functions with a small segment, the KFD2-BR-Ex1.3PA.93 is a combined unit.

Selection and ordering checklist for the HD2-FBPS-1.25.360

  • Number of segments and one module per segment.
  • Simplex or redundant arrangement.
  • Load current within 360 mA, including start-up of all devices.
  • Bulk supply of 19.2 to 35 V DC.
  • Zone 2 installation limits and temperature up to 60 °C.
  • Diagnostic module and motherboard compatibility.

Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the HD2-FBPS-1.25.360

Insert the module into the motherboard slot, check the PWR LED and measure the segment voltage. For a redundant pair, test by removing one module while watching the segment communication.

Check the thermal load: although dissipation is low at about 2 W, many modules in a cabinet add up, so plan ventilation.

After any replacement, record the segment voltage, the PWR LED state and the date in the maintenance log. A segment voltage that slowly falls over the years can point to ageing cable or to extra devices added without a power budget check, long before an alarm appears.

Power budget for a HD2-FBPS-1.25.360 segment

Add the quiescent currents of all field devices, add a reserve for devices with start-up peaks, and compare the sum with 360 mA. Also calculate the voltage drop of the trunk cable at that current, so the device at the end still receives its minimum voltage.

The short-circuit current is typically 400 mA, which protects the segment but means that a shorted spur can pull the trunk down unless a segment protector limits it.

Typical applications in Oman and the GCC

In Oman and the GCC the HD2-FBPS-1.25.360 supports FOUNDATION Fieldbus and PROFIBUS PA systems in refineries, LNG and power stations, where high availability and heat dissipation in crowded cabinets are key design points. High ambient temperature is a constant factor in the region, and the 60 °C limit of the module should be compared with the real cabinet temperature, not the room temperature. Spare modules are small and light, so stocking one per hub is a low-cost way to protect uptime.

When ordering, confirm whether your motherboard and the other hub modules are of the same generation, since the plug-in modules are designed for the Power Hub system and not for unrelated carriers. Send the existing hub part numbers with the RFQ so compatibility can be checked.

Site conditions in Oman for the HD2-FBPS-1.25.360

Electrical rooms and outdoor panels in the Gulf often operate well above the 25 °C reference temperature used in many catalogues. Before you finalise the HD2-FBPS-1.25.360, compare the expected panel temperature with the operating range and any output derating stated in the manufacturer documentation, and leave the recommended clearance above and below the device for convection. Supply quality also varies between sites, so confirm the input voltage range, frequency and any requirements for protection on the supply side.

Where the device feeds or monitors critical loads, plan how faults will be signalled to the control system and how a replacement can be installed quickly. Keeping one spare HD2-FBPS-1.25.360 per site and recording its settings helps maintenance teams in Oman restore service with minimum downtime.

About brand

Pepperl+Fuchs is a German manufacturer of industrial sensors and explosion protection equipment, founded in 1945 in Mannheim by Walter Pepperl and Ludwig Fuchs as a radio repair shop. Defective transformers led them into manufacturing, and the company developed its first proximity switch in the late 1950s. Pepperl+Fuchs is headquartered in Mannheim and is a pioneer of intrinsically safe electrical equipment for hazardous areas.

Seven Star LLC lists Pepperl+Fuchs sensors, isolated barriers, power supplies and hazardous-area mobile devices, and supplies them to instrument and automation teams in Oman by exact model designation.

Where Pepperl+Fuchs equipment is used

Isolated barriers sit between field instruments in Zone 0 or Zone 1 and the DCS or safety system in refineries, gas plants and chemical works. NAMUR sensors report valve position and machine states in classified areas. Photoelectric sensors and LiDAR scanners work in conveying, packaging, warehousing and vehicle guidance. Ex-rated tablets and phones are carried on operator rounds and maintenance jobs.

Ordering Pepperl+Fuchs parts: what we need

Send the complete model designation as printed on the device, including every suffix; a single letter can change the supply voltage or the output type. Add the part number if the label shows one. For barriers, tell us the field device and signal type, the number of channels and whether the safety loop needs a SIL-assessed module. For mobile devices, state the zone or division and the regional radio version.
