Brand:

GCE UNICONTROL Single-Stage Cylinder Regulator

Description

A forged-brass single-stage regulator for cutting, welding and shielding gas

The GCE UNICONTROL is a single-stage cylinder regulator built to ISO 2503 for oxygen, acetylene, propane, argon, argon mixtures and carbon dioxide. GCE describes it as a robust workshop regulator: the body is solid forged brass, polished and chemically stabilised, and the zinc die-cast bonnet carries a double powder-paint layer for corrosion resistance. The regulating valve is a filter-protected, fully encapsulated design that GCE says has been proven over several generations of its regulators.

The UNICONTROL regulators are independently type-tested and certified by BAM Berlin, the German federal testing institute. Technical data is permanently marked on the rear of the body, and a non-adjustable safety valve protects the low-pressure side.

Selecting and fitting the UNICONTROL

Choose the version by gas first, because the cylinder connection, the gauge scale and the seat materials are gas specific. Within a gas, pick the delivery pressure and flow from the table: the 10 bar oxygen version flows 54 m3/h, so heavy heating nozzles and thick-plate cutting need it. GCE notes that CO2 regulators need a heater above 30 l/min, because the gas cools strongly as it expands.

Fit a flashback arrestor and a non-return valve at the regulator outlet for fuel gases and oxygen, for example the GCE SAFE-GUARD-5 flashback arrestor, and use hoses rated for the delivery pressure. As a general rule for oxygen service, keep threads, seats and gauges free of oil and grease, open the cylinder valve slowly and stand clear of the gauge faces.

About brand

GCE (Gas Control Equipment) makes pressure regulators, flashback arrestors, torches, manifolds and valves for industrial, medical and specialty gases. It was formed in 1987 by combining the gas equipment businesses of AGA and ESAB, and its main production is in Chotěboř in the Czech Republic, with further plants in Poland and China. ESAB Welding & Cutting Products acquired GCE on 1 October 2018, bringing the business back to one of its founding parents.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list GCE cutting torches, regulators and safety devices for fabrication shops and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC.

Ordering GCE torches and regulators: what we need

Give the GCE article number, or the product range with length, head angle and connection threads. State the fuel gas, acetylene or propane, because the nozzle type depends on it, together with the plate thickness you cut, the gas and outlet pressure for regulators, and the safety devices required on site.

Facts checked against GCE's and ESAB's acquisition announcement, October 2018, and GCE company literature, October 2026.

FAQ

Questions about the GCE UNICONTROL Single-Stage Cylinder Regulator

Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.

01Which standard does the GCE UNICONTROL meet?
GCE states that UNICONTROL regulators conform to all paragraphs of ISO 2503 and are independently type-tested and certified by BAM Berlin.
02What inlet pressures does the UNICONTROL handle?
Up to 200 or 300 bar for compressed gases such as oxygen and argon, and 25 bar for acetylene and propane, depending on the version.
03Does the UNICONTROL have a safety valve?
Yes. A non-adjustable pressure relief valve sits on the rear of the body, so the factory setting cannot be changed by the user.
04What gauges are fitted?
Non-bulkhead 63 mm gauges of class 2.5 percent with the scale calibrated in bar.
05Is a heater needed for CO2?
GCE notes in the datasheet that CO2 regulators should use heaters above 30 l/min.
