HYTORC STEALTH Low-Clearance Hydraulic Torque Wrench

Description

The HYTORC STEALTH is a slim, dual-piston hydraulic torque wrench built for bolted joints where the clearance around the nut is too tight for a conventional wrench. The cut sheet describes it as a low-clearance tool with a continuous slim body, an integrated reaction pad and a Lock-On Release button, and it is reversible: the operator flips the tool over to change from tightening to loosening. It is one of the models Seven Star LLC can quote for flange make-up, heat-exchanger and pressure-vessel bolting, structural steel and rotating-equipment maintenance.

Low-clearance bolting with interchangeable links

The manufacturer states that the STEALTH was the first industrial bolting system with a continuous slim body, so the powerhead and the ratchet link share one profile. Links are interchangeable between hex, 12-point, HYTORC Washer and HYTORC Nut versions, which lets one powerhead cover several fastener sizes and joint styles. The uniswivel allows free movement and positioning of tools and hoses, and the optional Tool Retainer attaches the wrench to each bolt so the operator does not need to hold it in place during the stroke, giving hands-free bolting. Some models are available ATEX certified, and the manufacturer also describes subsea suitability on its product page; confirm the exact certificate and marking for the model offered before using the tool in a classified area.

Model sizes and torque ranges

The figures below are taken from the manufacturer cut sheet. The torque range is the minimum and maximum output of the powerhead, and the hex range depends on the link fitted. Torque ranges are not interchangeable between models, so choose the size whose range brackets the target torque with margin at both ends.

Model Hex range (mm) Weight (kg) Torque (Nm) Torque (ft-lbs)
STEALTH-2 28-60 1.81 377-2534 278-1,869
STEALTH-4 36-80 2.00 819-5450 604-4,020
STEALTH-8 50-100 3.03 1625-10823 1,199-7,984
STEALTH-14 70-120 4.71 2854-19324 2,105-14,255
STEALTH-22 75-130 7.00 4406-29654 3,250-21,875
STEALTH-36 90-165 10.93 6665-47069 4,917-34,722

Overall dimensions from the cut sheet for the standard hex link are given next.

Model Height (mm) Standard width W1 (mm) Length (mm)
STEALTH-2 107 32 141
STEALTH-4 138 42 167
STEALTH-8 163 53 203
STEALTH-14 202 64 237
STEALTH-22 233 74 274
STEALTH-36 275 87 323

Selecting the right STEALTH size

Start from the bolt diameter, the final torque from the joint calculation, and the hex or washer size. Pick the smallest model whose maximum torque exceeds the requirement, because a tool working near the bottom of its range is less accurate than one working in the middle. Check the radius and standard width against the free space around the nut, and decide whether a washer link, standard link or slim link is needed. A STEALTH is normally operated from a hydraulic pump with a hose set and quick couplers, and the pump pressure is set to the value read from the torque chart for the specific tool, not from the nameplate rating alone. The manufacturer supplies torque charts for each model and the tool must be used with a calibration certificate that matches its serial number.

Documents and quotation

The extended cut sheet is attached to this page, and the manufacturer also publishes a basic operations manual and torque charts. Before ordering, please confirm: the model size, the link type and hex size, whether an ATEX version is required, the pump and hose set, any reaction accessories such as the Tool Retainer, and the calibration certificate needed. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier and quotes on request. See other lifting and handling equipment in Material Handling and Lifting Equipment, or send your bolt schedule through the quotation form.

About brand

HYTORC is a US industrial bolting specialist known for hydraulic torque wrenches, electric and pneumatic torque tools, pumps and the reaction-washer and nut systems that go with them. The company has focused on controlled bolted joints since 1968, and its tools are used for flange make-up, structural steel, wind and power plant maintenance.

Torque tools for controlled bolting

The catalogue covers low-clearance and square-drive hydraulic wrenches, cordless electric torque tools, pneumatic multipliers and hydraulic pumps. Many tools accept the company reaction washer or nut, so the tool can push against the fastener itself instead of an adjacent object.

Specifying bolting equipment

Choose a tool by bolt size, required torque range, access clearance and the power source available on site. Each model page lists the published torque ranges and links to the manufacturer cut sheet where one exists. Seven Star LLC supplies HYTORC equipment against a stated torque range, drive size and power supply, and quotes after the bolting requirement is confirmed.

HYTORC publishes torque charts, manuals and cut sheets for each tool family, so the joint calculation can be checked against the manufacturer data before an order is placed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the torque range of the HYTORC STEALTH?
The cut sheet lists 377 to 47069 Nm (278 to 34,722 ft-lbs) across the STEALTH-2 to STEALTH-36 models.
Can the STEALTH be used without a back-end reaction arm?
It has an integrated reaction pad and integrated reaction-free links, and it is compatible with HYTORC Washer and Nut systems; the cut sheet lists the reaction options.
Is hands-free operation possible?
Yes, with the optional Tool Retainer accessory, which attaches the tool to the bolt.
Is an ATEX version available?
The manufacturer states that some STEALTH models are available ATEX certified. Confirm the certificate for the model before ordering.
Does the tool change between tightening and loosening?
