Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 Fire Detection and Extinguishing Control Panel
Description
Overview
The Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 is the current-generation fire detection and extinguishing control panel from Minimax, the German fire protection group based in Bad Oldesloe. In a fire protection system the control panel is where the information from every detector, manual call point and monitoring device comes together; it evaluates events and then manages alarms, extinguishing releases, system tests and building services. Minimax calls the Clunid panel the heart of fire protection and has designed it around two ideas: very high operating safety through redundancy, and simple, error-resistant operation through a touch display.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 and its function modules to fire protection contractors, industrial plants and facility operators in the Sultanate of Oman and across the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. We support both new installations and sites that already use Minimax extinguishing systems and want to move to the newest panel generation.
Operating Principle
The Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 is modular. A central signal processing unit runs the fire incident logic, while function modules connect the field: input modules for conventional detector lines or addressable loops, output modules for control groups and relays, and communication modules for fire brigade peripherals and networking. Zone control panels can be added at the front for area-specific operation. When a detector or input changes state, the event reaches the signal processing unit, the configured logic decides which actions follow, and the output modules drive sounders, extinguishing valves, dampers, plant shutdowns or a transmission to the fire brigade.
What sets the Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 apart, according to the manufacturer, is how thoroughly this chain is protected. Redundancy of the central signal processing unit is standard, as fire codes require, but in this panel the processors on all function modules and on the zone control boards are also implemented redundantly, without duplicating whole components. Modules are hot-plug capable, so operation continues while an individual module is exchanged. The integrated LogicManager also runs plausibility checks from the configuration stage through to upload, to catch errors before they reach a live system.
Engineering Design of the Minimax Clunid FMZ6000
As standard the Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 is fitted with a 7-inch touch display with group displays, a central and redundant signal processing unit, a power supply unit and battery supply. It is prepared for up to 80 function modules and 27 zone control panels. All modules are the same size and can be placed in any slot regardless of type, and a newly inserted module is addressed automatically, so the panel is ready for operation without manual hardware and software assignment. All components fit into four standard housing sizes, D04, D14, D21 and D40, which can be individually extended.
The Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 power supply units have an extended voltage input range for worldwide use, and the voltage output and control group modules use electronic fuses, which Minimax states makes them UL and FM conformant. An optional DC/DC converter stabilises the output voltage of the control groups, keeping a constant supply even on battery or during temperature fluctuations; this matters for standard components such as horns or solenoid valves that lack an extended input range. On the software side, LogicManager separates logic from hardware, supports undo and redo and generates system documentation automatically, while ServiceAssistant, connected through a ServiceBox over USB and WLAN, guides technicians through tests and records maintenance activity under a role-based authorisation model.
Key Features
The main features of the Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 described in the manufacturer’s brochure are:
- Full-colour 7-inch touch display with tile-based navigation, colour-coded operating states and clear-text messages.
- Redundant processors on the signal processing unit, on all function modules and on the zone control boards.
- Hot-plug module exchange, so the panel stays in operation during replacement of an individual module.
- Capacity for up to 80 function modules and 27 zone control panels in four extendable housing sizes.
- Uniform module size with automatic addressing in any slot, which shortens project planning and commissioning.
- LogicManager configuration software with plausibility checks, undo and redo, and automatic system documentation.
- ServiceAssistant for user-guided functional tests, event history review and documented maintenance work.
- Detector protocols that are downward compatible for addressable loop participants, and integrated international hardware and software requirements.
Industrial Applications
Minimax lists a wide range of duties for the Minimax Clunid FMZ6000: a pure fire detection control panel; a combined detection and extinguishing control panel for gas and spark extinguishing systems; a monitoring panel for water-based suppression systems; activation and monitoring of pilot-operated dry alarm valve stations; activation of hydrant systems in loop technology; activation of FSX deluge valves with and without external resetting; and control of complex fire incident matrices. In Oman this covers gas-protected control rooms, switchgear and data rooms at power and desalination plants, spark extinguishing in recycling, wood and paper processing, deluge protection on transformers and process units, and warehouse and logistics centres in Sohar, Duqm and Muscat.
Seven Star LLC supplies the Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 for these projects and can combine it with field devices from the same panel family. Customers configuring a Minimax Clunid FMZ6000 alongside older Minimax systems also use the Minimax MxSysCon Fire Control Configuration Software with Dongle. On mixed sites the panel often works alongside aspirating detection such as the Xtralis VESDA VLI Industrial Aspirating Smoke Detector, and buyers comparing addressable fire alarm panels for building areas sometimes look at the Gent VIGPLUS-72 Vigilon Plus 6-Loop Fire Alarm Control Panel.

About brand
Fire detection and extinguishing systems for industrial plants, data centers and logistics buildings are the business of Minimax, based in Bad Oldesloe, Germany. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Oman and lists one Minimax item at present: the MxSysCon fire control configuration software, supplied with its licence dongle. We also take inquiries for Minimax fire protection components and spare parts identified by part number.
Minimax systems the software and parts belong to
The manufacturer's program covers fire detection and extinguishing control panels of the FMZ family, UniVario flame and heat detectors and HELIOS aspirating smoke detectors. On the extinguishing side it builds deluge and other water-based systems, Minifog water mist, Oxeo inert gas and carbon dioxide systems, and spark extinguishing. Panel configuration software is tied to a specific panel generation. We did not find the name MxSysCon in the manufacturer's public documents, so the software version has to be checked against your panel type.
Ordering Minimax items: what we need
Send the Minimax part number, the type and firmware version of the control panel, and a photo of the panel label. For detectors, nozzles or valves, add the nameplate data and the approval the project specifies. Minimax systems are engineered per site, so a component is only correct when it matches the original system documents. We check that match for buyers across the GCC before the order is placed.
