Fluke 376 FC True-RMS AC/DC Clamp Meter with iFlex

Description

Overview

The Fluke 376 FC True-RMS AC/DC Clamp Meter with iFlex is the top model of the Fluke 370 FC Series and is aimed at industrial and commercial electricians who troubleshoot motors, drives, switchboards and feeders every day. Its jaw measures up to 999.9 A of ac or dc current without breaking the circuit, and the included iFlex flexible current probe extends the ac range to 2500 A on large conductors or bus bars that the rigid jaw cannot reach. Voltage to 1000 V ac and dc, resistance, capacitance and frequency are measured through the test leads.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Fluke 376 FC to electrical maintenance teams across the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. Power stations, process plants, building services contractors and facility managers in the region use this clamp meter to diagnose overloads, unbalanced phases and nuisance tripping on systems that are too important to shut down for an in-line current measurement.

Measurement Principle

The clamp jaw of the Fluke 376 FC surrounds the conductor and senses the magnetic field produced by the current, so both ac and dc can be read without electrical contact. The flexible iFlex probe senses ac current only and can be wrapped around odd-shaped or bundled conductors in tight panels. True-rms processing gives accurate readings on distorted waveforms from rectifiers, drives and electronic ballasts, where an average-responding meter would read low or high.

Two further measurement techniques in the Fluke 376 FC address motor work specifically. The integrated low-pass filter removes the high-frequency switching content from variable frequency drive outputs so the meter displays the fundamental voltage and current reaching the motor. Fluke’s proprietary inrush function filters out noise and captures motor starting current exactly as the circuit protection sees it, which helps the technician decide whether a breaker trip during start-up is caused by the motor, the load or the protection setting.

Engineering Design of the Fluke 376 FC

The meter body measures 24.9 × 8.5 × 4.5 cm, weighs 395 g, has a 34 mm jaw opening and runs on two AA batteries. The iFlex probe has a 7.5 mm cross-section and a 1.8 m cable from head to connector. Safety ratings are CAT III 1000 V and CAT IV 600 V to IEC 61010-2-032 and IEC 61010-2-033 and the operating temperature range is −10 °C to +50 °C. A TPAK magnetic hanging strap is included so the meter can be hung on a panel door while the probes are in use.

The Fluke 376 FC belongs to the Fluke Connect family. A Bluetooth link to the Fluke Connect Measurements app on Apple or Android devices lets the user read the display at a distance, outside the arc flash boundary, and wear less PPE while the meter is connected to the energised equipment. Logging on the 376 FC records measurements over time to find intermittent faults, and results can be saved to the Fluke Cloud, sent as reports from the field or shared during ShareLive video calls.

Key Features

The Fluke 376 FC brings the following capabilities to a maintenance team’s toolkit:

  • 999.9 A ac and dc current measurement through the jaw with 0.1 A best resolution.
  • 2500 A ac measurement with the included iFlex flexible current probe for large or awkward conductors.
  • 1000 V ac and dc voltage measurement and a 500 mV dc range for interfacing other accessories.
  • Integrated VFD low-pass filter for accurate motor drive measurements.
  • Inrush measurement that captures motor starting current as the circuit protection sees it.
  • Min, max, average and inrush recording, plus logging and trending through Fluke Connect.
  • Frequency to 500 Hz through the jaw or iFlex, resistance to 60 kΩ with continuity, and capacitance to 1000 µF.
  • CAT IV 600 V / CAT III 1000 V safety rating and a three-year warranty.

Industrial Applications

Typical tasks for the Fluke 376 FC include checking phase currents and balance on pump and fan motors, measuring dc current on battery chargers, UPS systems and solar strings, verifying load on feeders before adding new equipment, and capturing starting current when a motor trips its protection. The iFlex probe is particularly useful in crowded MCC buckets and on the large cables of main incomers. In Oman’s oil and gas, water and power facilities, a technician can confirm whether a motor protected by a device such as the Schneider Electric GV2ME08 TeSys Deca motor circuit breaker is genuinely overloaded, or test a machine such as the Toshiba EQP Global IEC low-voltage induction motor at start-up.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Fluke 376 FC to electrical departments in Muscat, Sohar, Salalah and the wider GCC. Instrument technicians who mainly need to read 4 to 20 mA loop signals rather than power current usually choose the Fluke 773 Milliamp Process Clamp Meter instead, and Seven Star LLC can advise on the right clamp for each team.

About brand
Ask an instrument technician which calibrator is in the toolbox and the answer is often a Fluke. Founded in 1948 and based in Everett, Washington, the company makes handheld test tools, and its Fluke Calibration line supplies laboratory standards. Seven Star LLC lists Fluke process calibrators, electrical test tools and bench calibrators, and sources them for maintenance teams and calibration laboratories in Oman.

Fluke calibrators and test tools listed

The Fluke products on this page fall into three groups:
  • Process tools: the 754 documenting process calibrator with HART, 789 ProcessMeter, 721 dual sensor pressure calibrator and 729 automatic pressure calibrator
  • Electrical test: the 376 FC true-RMS clamp meter with iFlex probe and the 1587 FC insulation multimeter
  • Fluke Calibration bench standards: 5522A, 5502A, 5500A and 5080A multi-product calibrators, the 5720A multifunction calibrator, 8508A reference multimeter, 6100A electrical power standard and 9640A RF reference source
Several of the bench models belong to earlier generations. When a model is no longer produced, we check the manufacturer's documentation and propose the successor it names.

Where Fluke instruments are used

Fluke process calibrators are used for loop checks, transmitter calibration and valve tests in oil and gas, power and water plants. Clamp meters and insulation testers serve electrical maintenance on motors, switchgear and cables. The bench calibrators and reference multimeters are the working standards of electrical calibration laboratories in the GCC, where they calibrate multimeters, clamp meters, process tools and power analyzers.

Ordering Fluke instruments: what we need

Send the exact model with its suffix, since versions differ. A Fluke 721, for example, is defined by its two pressure ranges, and a 729 by its maximum pressure. For bench calibrators, list the options you need, such as oscilloscope calibration or power quality options, the line voltage, and the type of calibration certificate you require from the manufacturer. For Fluke multimeters and clamp meters, add the kit contents wanted, such as probes, leads or cases.

Frequently Asked Questions

What current can the Fluke 376 FC measure?
The Fluke 376 FC measures up to 999.9 A ac and dc through its jaw with 0.1 A resolution, and up to 2500 A ac with the included iFlex flexible current probe.
Why does the Fluke 376 FC have a low-pass filter?
The integrated VFD low-pass filter removes high-frequency switching noise from variable frequency drive outputs, so the meter shows the fundamental voltage and current reaching the motor instead of a misleading reading.
