A 150 kW smart string inverter for commercial and utility PV plants

The Huawei SUN2000-150K-MG0 is a three-phase, transformerless string inverter that Huawei calls a Smart PV Controller. It converts DC from up to seven MPPT inputs into 150 kW of AC power at 380, 400 or 480 V, with a peak efficiency of 98.8 percent at 480 V. Built-in smart string level disconnector, arc fault protection, PV ground-fault protection and PID recovery are listed as standard, and the IP66 enclosure is cooled by Smart Air Cooling.

Sizing the array and the grid connection

With 7 MPPTs and up to 3 strings each, the inverter accepts up to 21 DC inputs, each rated 23 A, which suits mixed roof orientations or large string counts on commercial and ground-mount plants. The AC side is selectable by project: the datasheet lists 380, 400 and 480 Vac nominal output, so confirm the grid voltage and the local grid code before ordering. Whatever the array size, the 1,100 V input ceiling must not be exceeded by the cold-temperature open-circuit string voltage. The Huawei datasheet states that it shows a preliminary version and the information may change, so confirm the final data and the approvals required for your site, along with the communication option (Smart Dongle) and the monitoring platform you will use. The Huawei MA5616 access unit

The MA5616 is a 2U multi-service access module with plug-in boards. It delivers broadband and voice to subscribers over existing copper pairs, through ADSL2+, VDSL2 and POTS service boards, and connects upstream over GPON or Ethernet. In the listed build, CCUB is the main control board and GP1A is the uplink sub-board, described by resellers as one GPON port plus one GE port. Subscriber service boards occupy the remaining slots and have to be specified by type and port count.
