Universal Robots UR3e 3 kg Collaborative Robot Arm

Description

A compact 3 kg cobot with an endlessly rotating wrist

The Universal Robots UR3e is the smallest arm in the UR family: a six-joint collaborative robot with a 3 kg payload and 500 mm reach on a 128 mm base, weighing 11.2 kg with its arm cable. Every joint turns 360 degrees in either direction and the last wrist joint rotates without limit, which suits continuous screwdriving, dispensing and polishing where an arm that has to unwind would waste cycle time.

It is built for benches and compact cells. Any mounting orientation is allowed, noise stays under 60 dB(A) and the maximum power draw is only 300 W, so the arm fits assembly stations, laboratory set-ups and machine-side positions that a larger cobot would crowd.

Safety, tool interface and controller

Universal Robots documents 23 configurable safety functions and lists compliance with EN ISO 13849-1 (PLd Category 3) and EN ISO 10218-1. The arm runs from 0 to 50 degrees C at up to 90% RH without condensation.

At the flange, an M8 8-pin female connector carries 12 or 24 V (600 mA), two digital I/O points and either two analog inputs or an RS-485 link, so a gripper, screwdriver or small sensor connects with one short cable.

The arm works with a control box and a teach pendant running PolyScope on a 12-inch touchscreen, 1280 x 800 pixels, IP54. The control box offers 16 digital inputs and 16 outputs, two analog inputs and two outputs and four quadrature inputs, plus Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET and PROFIsafe.

A 3 kg arm suits a light tool such as a small screwdriver, a dispensing head or a compact gripper. Add the weight of every item mounted on the flange, including cables and brackets, before checking the 3 kg limit.

Universal Robots cobot models compared

The UR3e is the lightest of six current UR arms. Universal Robots also lists a UR3e-540, which pairs the same arm with the CB7 controller and TP7 Core pendant and states a 540 mm reach; confirm which controller generation your project needs.

Model Payload Reach
UR3e 3 kg 500 mm
UR7e 7.5 kg 850 mm
UR12e 12.5 kg 1300 mm
UR16e 16 kg 900 mm
UR20 20 kg 1750 mm
UR30 30 kg 1300 mm

Documents and quotation

The attached file is the one-page UR3e technical specification from the manufacturer. Before ordering, confirm the controller generation, the tool or gripper and its power demand, the mounting position and the supply at the control box. The arm is listed in our robotics category; please state quantity and delivery location with the request.

About brand

Universal Robots is a Danish manufacturer of collaborative robots (cobots), founded in 2005 and headquartered in Odense, and part of Teradyne Robotics. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes Universal Robots cobot arms for machine tending, palletizing, screwdriving, welding and assembly cells.

Collaborative robot arms from 3 kg to 30 kg payload

The Universal Robots range covers six-joint arms from the 3 kg UR3e to the 30 kg UR30, programmed on a touchscreen teach pendant with the PolyScope software. Each catalogue page links the manufacturer data sheet, so payload, reach, weight and protection rating can be compared before a quotation is issued.

Typical cobot applications

Machine tending, material handling, palletizing, screwdriving, welding and assembly are application areas named for these arms. Final suitability depends on the tooling, the workpiece and the risk assessment of the complete cell.

Ordering Universal Robots products

Send the arm model, controller generation if known, tooling, quantity and delivery location with the inquiry, so the matching version can be checked against its data sheet before a quotation is issued.

Frequently Asked Questions
