KSB HGM Boiler Feed Pump

Description

Multistage boiler feed pump with product-lubricated bearings

The KSB HGM is a boiler feed pump for pumping feed water in power stations and for boiler feed water and condensate in industrial plants. It is a multistage design with an axial inlet combined with a suction impeller, which gives low NPSH values, and its bearings are lubricated by the pumped product, so no separate lubricant supply or cooling water is needed.

Several hydraulic system options allow the pump to be matched closely to the duty, and KSB points to very smooth operation as a result of the design.

Operation and service

No auxiliary systems are required: the pump runs without a cooling water or lubricant supply and with just one mechanical seal, which is uncooled up to 284 F and fitted with an integrated air cooler up to 320 F. KSB lists ease of service as a design target. The leaflet gives the material combinations of the three variants; stage casings are stainless steel or steel depending on pump size and stage, and shafts are steel or stainless steel according to variant.

Selecting an HGM pump

Give flow, total head, feed water temperature and quality, suction pressure and NPSH available, speed and the preferred material variant. Boiler feed duties also depend on the plant: minimum flow protection, warm-up behaviour and the control concept are part of the system design and are not covered by the leaflet.

Documents and quotation

The leaflet is the US edition (09.24) and gives its data in US units. State your units and the duty so the data can be checked.

The attached KSB leaflet is the manufacturer document for the HGM and lists the technical data used above. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes KSB pumps against your duty data. Browse Pumps for related equipment, or compare with the KSB Multitec multistage high-pressure pump.

About brand

Pumps and valves have been the whole business of KSB since 1871, and the Frankenthal company's type series names are a fixture on nameplates in water, building services, energy and process plants. Seven Star LLC lists KSB pump families including Etanorm, Movitec, Multitec and Omega, and supplies KSB pumps and spare parts to operators and contractors in Oman and the GCC, matching each request to the manufacturer's documentation.

KSB pump series we list

  • Etanorm: horizontal single-stage volute casing pump with ratings and main dimensions to EN 733, back pull-out design, replaceable casing wear rings.
  • Movitec: vertical multistage high-pressure pump in ring-section design, with suction and discharge nozzles of the same diameter in line.
  • Multitec: multistage ring-section pump for horizontal or vertical mounting, built in materials from cast iron to duplex stainless steel.

Ordering KSB pumps and parts: what we need

For a spare part, send the type series and size, the KSB order number and serial number from the nameplate, and the part number from the sectional drawing. For a new pump, give flow, head, liquid, temperature, suction conditions, material preference, and motor voltage and frequency. Mechanical seal code and impeller diameter matter on replacements, because one pump size is built in many variants.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the HGM used for?
Feed water in power stations, and boiler feed water and condensate in industrial plants.
Why is NPSH low?
The axial inlet is combined with a suction impeller.
How are the bearings lubricated?
By the pumped product, so no lubricant supply is needed.
What is the maximum pressure?
Up to 2030 psi operating pressure.
What seal arrangement is used?
One mechanical seal, uncooled to 284 F and with an integrated air cooler to 320 F.
