Description
Central-station screw compressors for 250 and 315 kW
The Kaeser FSD series serves large compressed air stations with up to 61.4 m³/min at pressures up to 15 bar. Two sizes are listed, FSD 475 with a 250 kW motor and FSD 575 with 315 kW, each as a fixed-speed machine and as an SFC machine with frequency converter. The package is built around a single-stage SIGMA PROFILE airend with direct 1:1 drive, a SIGMA CONTROL controller with a capacitive touchscreen, and a triple separation system in the fluid tank. Compressed air leaves through a DN 150 connection after aftercooling and a centrifugal separator with a zero-loss ECO-DRAIN.

How the FSD runs and what it recovers
Electronic Thermal Management controls fluid temperature to avoid condensation and keep it as low as possible. Dynamic control calculates run-on times from the winding temperature, reducing idle running, and the controller supports base-load sequencing of two compressors, a timer for compressor functions and several control modes. Optional internal heat recovery can feed a water circuit, and the water-cooled version can use a plate-type or shell-and-tube exchanger with a seawater-resistant version offered as an option. At this size the foundation, ventilation and piping for a 3.5 by 2.1 m, 6.6 to 7.3 tonne machine need early planning.

Kaeser Kompressoren is a German manufacturer of compressors, blowers and compressed air systems. Carl Kaeser Sr. established the company as a machine workshop in Coburg, Germany, on 27 June 1919, and the first reciprocating compressor followed in 1948. Today the family-owned company covers rotary screw and reciprocating compressors, blowers, vacuum packages, air treatment and portable compressors.
