Large screw compressors for 200 and 250 kW central stations

The Kaeser ESD series is the high-capacity end of the fluid-cooled SIGMA PROFILE range, delivering up to 47.2 m³/min at pressures up to 15 bar. Two sizes, ESD 375 and ESD 445, are offered in fixed-speed and SFC versions. A single-stage airend with 1:1 direct drive is combined with an IE4 motor carrying three Pt100 winding sensors, two fan motors (one with variable speed) and the SIGMA CONTROL 2 L controller with a capacitive touchscreen. The separation system leaves a residual fluid content below 2 mg/m³.

Cooling, efficiency and heat recovery

The Dynamic control mode calculates run-on times from the motor winding temperature, which cuts idling. Electronic Thermal Management holds the fluid temperature as low as possible while avoiding condensation. Internal heat recovery is optional, and the water-cooled version changes the stated dimensions, sound level and weight, so request the datasheet values for that variant. A seawater-resistant cooler option is relevant for coastal plants.

ESD compared with the larger Kaeser series

Compare delivery at your working pressure: at 10 bar the ESD 375 gives 30.13 m³/min and the ESD 445 gives 37.23 m³/min. The SFC versions cover a wide range, from 8.22 up to 32.51 m³/min on the ESD 375 at 10 bar. Confirm the cooling medium, the pressure variant, supply voltage, available floor area and the foundation and ventilation requirements. Kaeser compressor and blower range

The rotary screw compressors use the SIGMA PROFILE airend and the SIGMA CONTROL 2 controller, from compact units up to the large series for 515 kW, with oil-free compression models for sensitive applications. Rotary screw vacuum packages and several blower types for process air and aeration complete the machinery side of the Kaeser catalogue.
