Isotech Pegasus 4853 High Temperature Dry Block Calibrator

Description

A portable dry block furnace for calibrating thermocouples up to 1200 degrees C

The Isotech Pegasus 4853 is a portable high-temperature dry block calibrator covering 150 to 1200 degrees C, designed for fast heating and for calibrating high-temperature thermocouples. Isotech lists glass, electrical power, automotive and material processing as typical industries. It uses a small tube furnace with a ceramic construction and a specially wound heater with turns concentrated at the ends, where heat loss is greatest, plus top and bottom insulators to improve uniformity. The standard insert has four 8 mm pockets, 80 mm deep, giving an effective immersion depth of 130 mm. A blackbody target can be added for calibrating infrared thermometers.

Choosing the controller version

The BASIC version shows set and nominal block temperature. The SITE version adds an independent temperature indicator with one input for a reference probe and one test-thermostat input. The ADVANCED version adds two universal inputs for PRT, thermocouple or process signals plus a thermocouple input, automatic temperature cycling, secure data logging, offset elimination so the block can follow a reference input, a full-colour display in four languages, a built-in web server and tamper-proof data. The Basic model is meant for use with an external reference probe and indicator such as the Isotech milliK.

Accessories, ordering and documents

Listed accessories include a blank insert (853-06-02), custom insert, blackbody kit (853-06-03), air cooling adaptor (853-04-02), ceramic insulators (853-06-04), a current loop interface (935-06-161) and a wheeled carrying case (931-22-111); a standard Type R probe (935-14-91) is listed for use up to 1200 degrees C. A three-point traceable certificate for block temperature is an option and UKAS calibration is recommended. For lower ranges see the Isotech Jupiter 4852; more are under Temperature Instrumentation. The attached Isotech Pegasus datasheet pages give the specification and accessory list; confirm the version, supply voltage and certificate needed when requesting a quotation.

About brand

Isotech has made temperature calibration equipment in Southport, United Kingdom, since 1980. Its instruments are found in calibration laboratories and in instrument workshops that check thermocouples, RTDs and temperature transmitters. Seven Star LLC lists Isotech dry block calibrators, reference thermometers and precision readouts and supplies them to calibration laboratories and plant instrument maintenance departments in Oman.

Isotech calibrators and thermometers listed here

Two dry block calibrators are listed: the portable Jupiter 4852, a block for the higher temperatures at which thermocouples and platinum resistance thermometers are checked, and the Europa 4520 from the Isocal-6 family, which covers -45 to 140 °C and can be converted with accessories into a stirred liquid bath. Alongside them are Isotech semi-standard PRTs, used as reference platinum thermometers, and the milliK precision thermometer, which reads PRTs, thermistors and thermocouples. Together these form a working calibration setup: a heat source, a reference probe and a readout.

Ordering Isotech equipment: what we need

For an Isotech dry block calibrator, tell us the temperature range you must cover, the diameters and lengths of the sensors under test, the insert drilling you need and the mains voltage. For a reference PRT, state the temperature range, sheath length and whether a calibration certificate from the manufacturer is required. GCC laboratories should also name the accreditation requirement the certificate has to meet.
