Brand:

Druck PV211 Pneumatic Pressure and Vacuum Hand Pump, 40 bar

Description

A lightweight hand pump for pressure and vacuum

The Druck PV211 is a combined pneumatic pressure and vacuum hand pump for field calibration. A selector valve switches between pressure and vacuum generation, an adjustable stroke control sets how much each stroke delivers, and a built-in fine-adjust vernier and needle release valve give controlled setting and decreasing of pressure at the test point.

Druck states it reaches 0 to 40 bar (600 psi) and 0 to -900 mbar (28.5 inHg) vacuum, and that it takes only four strokes to reach 7 bar (100 psi). The pump has comfortable moulded scissor handles and weighs 650 g, so it is easy to carry to the instrument being tested.

It is a pump only: it does not measure pressure. A reference gauge or calibrator is connected at the outlet, for example one of the Druck DPI indicators or calibrators. See the Druck DPI 705E already listed on this site.

Ordering codes and kits

The datasheet lists PV211 (pump with 3 ft hose, 1/4 NPT female and BSP fittings), PV211-14 (the same pump with NPT fittings), PV211-P (pump and pneumatic kit with BSP fittings in a carrying case with space for a gauge) and PV211-14-HA (pneumatic vacuum pressure pump kit with NPT fittings). Kits with a digital test gauge are ordered with the PV211-104 table: a DPI104 safe-area gauge or a DPI104-IS hazardous-area gauge, in BSP or NPT, with ranges of 7, 20 or 70 bar gauge or absolute.

Accessories are ordered as separate lines: PV-BSP-QF and PV-NPT-QF quick-fit adaptor sets, PV211-HK replacement hose assembly, PV211-TC transit case and PV211-SK service seal kit.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm whether the application needs BSP or NPT threads, the pressure or vacuum level required, and whether a gauge kit is wanted. The hose is a small-bore nylon line, so check the volume of the system under test and whether the stroke adjuster gives enough resolution.

How the Druck PV211 pressure and vacuum hand pump works

A calibration hand pump creates a clean, stable pressure or vacuum at the test point. The PV211 has a piston in a small cylinder, and each stroke compresses or draws air. A selector valve switches the pump between pressure and vacuum. The stroke control sets the volume per stroke, which helps in small test volumes, and the vernier gives fine adjustment around the set point. When the test is finished, the needle valve releases the pressure slowly. The pump itself does not read the pressure, so a reference gauge or calibrator is fitted at the outlet.

Where the PV211 is used

  • Field calibration of pressure transmitters and gauges.
  • Checking pressure switches and relief devices.
  • Leak tests on small pneumatic systems.
  • Vacuum checks on instruments rated for negative pressure.
  • Workshop use with a digital gauge in a carrying case.

Selection checklist for the PV211

  • Pressure range of 0 to 40 bar (600 psi) and vacuum to -900 mbar.
  • Thread type: BSP or NPT, for the device under test.
  • Kit or pump only: PV211, PV211-14, PV211-P or PV211-14-HA.
  • Reference gauge: for example a DPI104 for safe areas or DPI104-IS for hazardous areas.
  • Range of the reference gauge: 7, 20 or 70 bar.
  • Accessories: quick-fit adaptor sets, replacement hose, transit case and service seal kit.
  • Medium: the pump is for air or clean gas, not for liquids.
  • Weight and size of 650 g and 220 x 105 x 63 mm for field work.

Using and maintaining the PV211

Connect the hose to the device under test and the reference gauge, close the release valve, and select pressure or vacuum. Pump to near the target value, then use the vernier for fine setting. Wait a short time for the pressure to settle, because temperature changes in the hose affect the reading. Release the pressure slowly with the needle valve before disconnecting. Keep the pump clean and dry, check the hose for cracks, and use the service seal kit when the pump no longer holds pressure.

Leak checks before calibration

Before every calibration, check the connections for leaks by pumping to the test pressure and watching the reference gauge. A leak gives drift and wrong results.

Hand pump or pressure controller

A hand pump is light, simple and needs no power. For repeated tests at many points an automatic pressure controller may save time, but it costs more and is heavier.

Records of calibration work

Record the reference gauge, its calibration date and the readings, so that the test can be traced later.

Choosing the PV211 kit for your work

The pump alone suits a technician who already has a reference gauge. A kit with a case and a digital gauge keeps everything together and protects the instruments in the field. Choose the intrinsically safe gauge when the work is in a hazardous area. Match the threads of the kit to the instruments in the plant, so that adaptors are not needed.

Hose and connection care

Keep the hose away from oil and sharp edges, and check the quick-fit adaptors for wear, since a damaged adaptor makes leak finding slow.
