The MTL5541 accepts a 4–20mA (0–24mA over-range) hazardous-area input from a field transmitter and reproduces it as an isolated 4–20mA safe-area output, with transfer accuracy better than 15µA at 20°C and temperature drift below 0.8µA/°C. Galvanic isolation of 250V rms separates the hazardous-area, safe-area, and power supply circuits, ensuring that a fault on either side of the barrier cannot propagate energy into the hazardous area beyond certified intrinsically safe limits.

Response time settles to within 10% of final value within 50µs, supporting fast-responding control loops, while output ripple stays below 50µA peak-to-peak for clean signal integrity. HART communication is supported on terminals 1 and 2, allowing a HART communicator or asset management system connected on the safe-area side to configure and diagnose a hazardous-area smart transmitter without additional isolation hardware.
