Donaldson Ultrapac HL Heatless Adsorption Dryer ALD / MSD

Description

A heatless adsorption dryer with filters in two dew point versions

The Donaldson Ultrapac HL is a heatless-regenerated adsorption dryer for compressed air and nitrogen at 4 to 16 bar g, available in ten sizes from 100 to 1000 m3/h nominal flow. Two model types are offered: the ALD for moderate operating temperatures and a pressure dew point of -40 °C (Class 2 under ISO 8573-1:2010), and the MSD for high-temperature applications with pressure dew points down to -70 °C where sizing and operating conditions allow. Each dryer is a complete purification package with a coalescing pre-filter and an after-filter using UltraPleat media, and the pre-filter has an electronic zero-loss level-controlled condensate drain with function control and alarm message.

Two adsorber vessels work in turn: while one dries the air, the other is regenerated by a partial flow of dry air expanded through an orifice. Standard models switch on a timer. Superplus models add the Ultraconomy dew point control, where a dew point transmitter triggers regeneration so the desiccant capacity is fully used. Vessels and frame are welded steel, the pipework uses a press-fit design, and the unit has robust shuttle valves and solenoid membrane valves.

Options, sizing and documents

Defined options include 24 V DC or 115 V AC supply, a purge orifice for a specific operating pressure, a 4 to 20 mA dew point output on Superplus models, a tropical version using short-cycle operation for inlet temperatures up to 50 °C, a stainless-steel -70 °C dew point measuring system, and seaworthy or wooden-box packaging. To size a unit, divide the required flow by the correction factor for your operating pressure and inlet temperature in the datasheet table. Donaldson’s worked example, 200 m3/h at 30 °C and 10 bar g for a -40 °C dew point, gives 132.5 m3/h and selects an ALD 0150. Send flow, pressure, inlet temperature and dew point target to confirm the size. See the compressor and air treatment category.

About brand

Donaldson is a filtration company headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota, USA, founded in 1915. Its range covers compressed air and gas filtration, dryers and filter housings, gas turbine air intake filters, dust collection and engine and hydraulic filtration. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, offers Donaldson products to industrial buyers on request.

Donaldson compressed air and process filtration

Donaldson compressed air products include industrial filter housings such as the DF Ultra-Filter, filter elements for oil aerosol, water and particle removal, and adsorption dryers for dew point control. Each product has a datasheet giving flow range, operating pressure, connections, materials and ordering codes, and the housings accept several element grades so the same body can be matched to different air quality needs.

Choosing a Donaldson product

Selection starts from air flow in m3/h, operating pressure, required air quality and connection size. Send the operating conditions and the model code with your enquiry and Seven Star LLC will confirm availability and documents before you order.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between ALD and MSD?
ALD is for moderate temperatures and a -40 degrees C dew point; MSD is for high temperatures and dew points down to -70 degrees C.
What pressure range does the Ultrapac HL cover?
4 to 16 bar g, with nominal ratings at 7 bar g and 35 degrees C inlet.
Are filters included?
Yes. A pre-filter with an electronic zero-loss drain and an after-filter with UltraPleat media are part of the package.
What does Ultraconomy do?
On Superplus models a dew point transmitter controls regeneration so the desiccant capacity is fully used.
What power supply does it use?
230 V AC 50-60 Hz as standard, with 24 V DC and 115 V AC optional.
