Donaldson UFM-D03 / D05 / D10 Level-Controlled Condensate Drain
Description
A condensate drain that opens on level, not on a timer
The Donaldson UFM-D03, UFM-D05 and UFM-D10 are the Ultramat electronically level-controlled condensate drains for the small and medium end of the range. A sensor detects condensate of any kind, including pure oil, and opens the valve only when liquid has collected, so no compressed air escapes with the condensate, the drain is quiet and the condensate is less emulsified than from a time-controlled solenoid valve.
That last point matters downstream: less emulsification keeps oil and water separators working and makes it easier to stay within legal discharge limits. All wearing parts sit in one service unit that is replaced as a whole.

Choosing the size
- UFM-D03: Compressor m3/min 2.5; Fridge dryer m3/min 5; Filter m3/min 25; Weight kg 0.8
- UFM-D05: Compressor m3/min 5; Fridge dryer m3/min 10; Filter m3/min 50; Weight kg 1.0
- UFM-D10: Compressor m3/min 10; Fridge dryer m3/min 20; Filter m3/min 100; Weight kg 1.65
Performance data are for 20 C ambient and 50 percent relative humidity. Match the drain to the largest source it will serve: a drain that suits a 5 m3/min compressor may be too small for a 20 m3/min dryer on the same line.
Installation points and service
Donaldson lists compressors, aftercoolers, receivers, pre- and after-filters of refrigeration dryers, condensate and oil-removal filters and pipe bends as drain points. The condensate inlet can be vertical or horizontal, and the swivelling adapter on D03 and D05 helps with awkward piping.
At service time no electrical work is necessary: the service unit contains all wearing and pressurised parts, is function-tested by the manufacturer and replaces the old parts in one step. Special equipment for particularly aggressive condensate is available, so state the condensate type on the order.

About brand
Donaldson is the American filtration company founded in Minnesota in 1915. It started when Frank Donaldson Sr. built an air cleaner for a tractor engine that kept failing in dusty fields. It is now headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota, and makes filters and filtration systems for engines, hydraulics, compressed air and gases, dust collection and process liquids.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Donaldson compressed air dryers and filters, gas filter housings, activated carbon adsorbers, hydraulic and fuel filtration and dust collectors, and supply them and their replacement elements in Oman and the GCC.
Donaldson company profile

| Product families | Engine air and fuel filters, hydraulic and lube filters, compressed air and gas filters and dryers, dust collectors, process and sterile filtration |
Milestones
- 1915: Frank Donaldson Sr. builds an air cleaner for a tractor that kept failing in a dusty field; the family starts Donaldson Company in Minnesota.
- 1917: Air cleaners are supplied for artillery tractors.
- 1920s: Exhaust products are added after crop fires caused by engine sparks.
- 1974: Donaldson acquires Torit, the dust collector business.
- 2015: The company marks its 100th year.

Compressed air quality is set by ISO 8573-1 classes for particles, water and oil. A typical instrument air system uses a coarse filter and a fine coalescing filter before the dryer, an adsorption dryer for a low pressure dew point (for example -40 °C), and a dust filter after it. An activated carbon stage removes oil vapour where the air touches food or is breathed. Heatless dryers use some of the dry air to regenerate the desiccant, while heat-regenerated and zero-purge types save that air on larger systems.
Where Donaldson products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Donaldson filters and dryers are used for instrument and plant air in oil and gas, refining, power and desalination plants, for breathing air, in food and pharmaceutical production, on hydraulic systems and fuel storage, and in cement and bulk handling.
Ordering Donaldson products: what we need
Send the model and size from the nameplate. For dryers and filters, add the flow (m³/h or scfm), working pressure, inlet temperature, required dew point or ISO 8573-1 class, and the supply voltage. For replacement elements, send the element part number or the housing model.

FAQ
Questions about the Donaldson UFM-D03 / D05 / D10 Level-Controlled
Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.
01How does UFM-D differ from a timed drain?
It opens only when the level sensor sees condensate, so no compressed air is lost and the drain stays quiet.
02Which condensate can it handle?
Oil-contaminated and oil-free condensate; the sensor detects every kind, even pure oil.
03What supply voltages are possible?
95-240 VAC or 100-125 VDC, and 24-48 VAC or 18-72 VDC, according to the type plate.
04When is the service unit due?
After 1 million operations or 2 x 8,760 hours, indicated by a blinking power/service LED.
05Is it suitable for CO2 plants?
No. The data sheet excludes CO2 plants.
