Brand:

Hattersley Fig. M511 Cast Iron Flanged Gate Valve PN10

Description

Flanged cast iron gate valve for non-corrosive and clean services

The Hattersley Fig. M511 is a PN10 gate valve in cast iron with integral flanges, an inside screw pattern and a non-rising stem. The data sheet says it is ideal for non-corrosive and reasonably clean services, with bronze trim and threaded seat rings that are securely fixed into the body. It complies with BS EN 1171:2002, is flanged to BS EN 1092-2 PN10 and has face-to-face dimensions to BS EN 558-1 series 14.

The title on the manufacturer listing notes the valve is available until stocks last, so check availability and any successor range before ordering. Sizes run from DN50 to DN150.

Features

Dimensions and weights

DN 50 65 80 100 125 150
A mm 150 170 180 190 200 210
B mm 292 324 360 380 454 490

D mm 160 185 200 220 250 285

Dimension B is the open height of the handwheel, relevant for headroom, while the weights are given in kilograms for ordering lifting aids.

Selection and ordering guide

Order by figure number and DN. The sheet restricts the valve to non-corrosive, reasonably clean services, and PN10 is the only flange rating, so it is not for PN16 systems without a pressure check. The 7.4 bar rating at 230 C shows the derating at higher temperatures. For corrosive fluids, higher pressure or oil, look at other materials in the Hattersley range. Check stock status first, because the maker marks the figure as available until stocks last.

Installation and operation notes

The data sheet gives no installation text. General practice for flanged gate valves is to keep the valve fully open or fully closed in service, support the pipework so flange bolts are not loaded by pipe weight, and tighten bolts evenly. At 17 kg for DN50 and 62 kg for DN150, lifting arrangements should be planned. The non-rising stem means no clear position indication.

Applications

PN10 cast iron gate valves are typical in water distribution, fire-water ancillary lines and cooling circuits. For GCC projects they appear in chilled and condenser water loops and in utility buildings. The cast iron body is not intended for corrosive fluids according to the data sheet, so check water treatment chemistry on seawater-cooled systems.

Cast iron gate valve versus the other Hattersley isolating valves

The M511 differs from the bronze screwed isolating valves in this series in four ways that affect ordering, all taken from the data sheets. It is flanged rather than threaded, so it needs matching PN10 counterflanges, bolts and gaskets. It has a lower pressure class than the PN16 C31 or PN32 globe valves, but at DN50 to DN150 it is a much larger body, ranging from 17 kg to 62 kg. Its trim is bronze, which is a corrosion-resistant combination on the wetted seating faces, while the body and wedge are cast iron EN-JL1040. And it uses graphite packing and graphite gaskets, which tolerate the 230 C temperature that the data sheet lists at 7.4 bar.

These differences also explain the services the manufacturer recommends: non-corrosive and reasonably clean. If water treatment chemicals, seawater ingress or abrasive solids are expected, ask us to check an alternative before ordering. We can also confirm the successor or equivalent if the figure is withdrawn once stocks are exhausted, using the manufacturer product pages as the only source.

Specification checklist before ordering

Confirm the size from DN50 to DN150, the flange standard BS EN 1092-2 PN10, the working pressure of 10 bar from -10 to 120 C and the headroom, since the open height is printed as dimension B in the table. The sheet gives 7.4 bar at 230 C, so high-temperature use needs a check. Because the manufacturer lists the valve as available until stocks last, confirm availability before committing to a project quantity.

Handling and storage

Cast iron flanges are brittle, so lift the valve by the body and never by the handwheel, store it on pallets with flange faces protected, and use the correct bolting torque sequence at installation to avoid cracking a flange.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the figure number, size, quantity, delivery location in Oman or the GCC and the medium and temperature, so that availability and alternatives can be confirmed.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with any project specification before a purchase is confirmed. Material grades, test pressures and dimensions are quoted exactly as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.
