CHV-X SS 25: a straightway stainless-steel check valve

Danfoss 148B5680 is a CHV-X SS 25, the stainless-steel straightway version of the CHV-X check valve. Connections are 25 mm (1 in) butt weld to EN 10220, the connection material is stainless steel and the flow path is straight through, giving a Kv value of 16 m3/h against 24 m3/h for the angleway carbon-steel CHV-X 25. Net weight is 1.28 kg.

Ratings on the product page are a maximum working pressure of 52 bar (754 psig), a temperature range of -60 to 150 C and a minimum opening differential of 0.04 bar (0.62 psi). CE and UA approvals are listed.

Straightway stainless check valves

A straightway body is used where the pipe layout is straight and a 90 degree turn is not wanted, for example between a compressor and an oil separator or along a horizontal run. Stainless steel suits corrosive environments and low-temperature duties, and its lower weight makes the valve easy to hold in place for welding.

This code shares a data sheet with the SS version of the SCA-X check-and-stop valve (Check & stop valve SCA-X SS and Check valve CHV-X SS), which covers dimensions, Kv and the opening pressure for sizes from 15 to 125 mm.

Ordering notes

Welding needs a stainless procedure and careful control of heat input around the seat. The valve is a SVL Flexline body with spare parts listed, so the top and seat can be refreshed in place. Mount with the arrow along the flow.

Check that your pipe standard is EN 10220 rather than ASME Schedule 80 (the carbon CHV-X 25 uses the latter). Confirm refrigerant, oil and the design pressure before ordering; the stainless range is for service conditions defined by the plant designer.

Keep the arrow orientation in the isometric drawing, because a check valve fitted backwards blocks the line completely, and note that a stainless pipe system needs stainless-compatible welding consumables.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
