SKF 23030 CC/W33 Spherical Roller Bearing, 150 mm Bore

A 150 mm bore CC design bearing for large gearboxes, pumps and fans

The SKF 23030 CC/W33 is a large spherical roller bearing of the 230 series with a cylindrical 150 mm bore, 225 mm outside diameter and 56 mm width. CC is an SKF bearing design, shown in the brochure with two stamped window-type steel cages, an inner ring without flanges and a floating guide ring centred on the inner ring. The result is a self-aligning bearing with high radial capacity and the ability to carry heavy axial loads in both directions.

The suffix W33 means an annular groove and three lubrication holes in the outer ring, so the bearing can be relubricated through the housing. Typical uses are large gearboxes, process pumps and industrial fans and other heavy equipment where shaft diameters are large and alignment is not perfect.

CC design, W33 and sibling variants

In 23030, 230 is the dimension series and 30 gives the 150 mm bore. In the SKF brochure the CC design bearings are marked by the suffix C or CC and have an optimised internal design for higher load capacity, and W33 is the annular groove with three lubrication holes. The tapered bore version, 23030 CCK/W33, is listed with adapter sleeve H 3030 or withdrawal sleeve AHX 3030.

The brochure also lists a sealed sibling, 23030-2CS5/VT143, with a limiting speed of 670 r/min that is filled with SKF LGEP 2 grease, and a wider 24030 CC/W33 variant that has a higher dynamic rating of 680 kN. For series 230 in sizes below 56 the brochure gives 2 degrees of permissible angular misalignment.

Mounting and ordering notes

Mount with the shaft shoulder diameter at least 161 mm and the housing shoulder no more than 214 mm, with fillet radii of 2 mm or less. At 7.95 kg the bearing needs lifting equipment and a controlled heating method for the interference fit; check that the heater you plan to use has a capacity above this weight. Use only the lubricant intended for the speed and temperature, since the limiting speed is 3 200 r/min and the reference speed 2 400 r/min.
