The Shinkawa VM-5S Dual Tachometer is a two-channel speed monitoring module within the VM-5 series machinery protection system. Engineering & Design
The module is built to the VM-5 series rack-mount standard, occupying a single slot in the VM-5H4 or VM-5W2 instrument rack. Monitor ranges are selectable from 1 to 1,000 rpm up to 99,999 rpm, covering low-speed turning gear applications through high-speed turbomachinery.
Each channel provides a recorder output in 4-20mA DC or 1-5V DC form, and the relay stage supplies speed alarm and danger contacts with selectable individual, OR, or AND logic. Speed relay settings are adjusted with hysteresis control on a shaped waveform circuit, and the module supports the VM-5 series self-diagnostic architecture.
