Brand: TDK Electronics (EPCOS)
TDK B84142A0040R000 40 A Single-Phase EMC Filter, 250 V AC/DC
Description
A compact 40 A filter for single-phase and DC supplies
The TDK B84142A0040R000 is a two-line power line filter, which means it filters one live and one return conductor. It is rated 40 A at 40 C on 250 V AC (50/60 Hz) or 250 V DC, so it covers single-phase equipment and DC supplies. In a 1.0 kg metal case with finger-safe terminals for 6 mm2 conductors it is small enough for drive cabinets and power-supply enclosures.
TDK highlights high insertion loss, a very compact design, and suitability for long motor cables and operation under full load. The listed uses include frequency converters for elevators, conveyors, pumps, traction systems and HVAC, as well as power supplies and DC applications.

Where the 40 A step fits in the series
The series covers 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 A. The 40 A code shares a dimension drawing with the 30 A code, while 50 and 60 A move to larger 16 mm2 terminals and 2.5 kg weight. Leakage current rises with rating too: 7.9 mA up to 30 A, 17 mA at 40 A and 26 mA at 50 and 60 A, which affects how the protective earth must be wired.
- The 6 mm2 terminal and 40 A rating suit a single-phase feeder to a drive or power supply; for three-phase drives use a 3-line filter instead.
- On a DC bus supply of up to 250 V DC the same filter is specified.
- At 17 mA leakage the earth connection must be fixed, not a plug connection.
Marking, ordering and what arrives in the box
The component is marked with the manufacturer logo, ordering code, rated voltage, rated current, rated temperature, climatic category, date code and approvals; the photograph shows a label reading 40 A, 250 V, 50/60 Hz, 25/100/21 and 40 C ambient. Packaging carries at least the logo, ordering code, quantity and date code. The ordering code B84142A0040R000 follows the pattern of the datasheet table, in which the four digits after the series letter give the rated current (0040 for 40 A). TDK notes that the same ordering code can be printed differently on shipping papers and labels without any change to the specification.
Installation and safety instructions
As for all TDK EMC filters, installation is for qualified persons only. The product stores charge, so voltage can remain at the terminals for over five minutes after power-off. Make the protective earth connection first and remove it last. Because leakage here exceeds 10 mA, the datasheet requires a fixed connection of the protective conductor of at least 10 mm2 Cu or 16 mm2 Al, or two separate conductors that each meet the size. Protect the filter against over-current and resonance circuits, and avoid using it to carry mechanical load. The case can be very hot in operation and for some time afterwards.
Typical GCC uses
Single-phase variable speed drives on small pumps and fans, lift and door controllers, 230 V power supplies feeding instrumentation and control panels, and DC feeds in solar or battery systems all need this kind of filtering to meet emission limits. In hot climates remember the 40 C rated temperature when mounting inside a closed enclosure in direct sun. More drive-panel components are in the electrical and power category.
Selection and installation notes
An EMC filter or reactor is selected from the rated current at the actual ambient temperature, the supply voltage and the drive or load it serves. Fit it as close as possible to the drive input, keep the cable between filter and drive short, bond the housing to the panel back plate with a clean metal contact, separate input and output cables, and check the leakage current against the protective earth requirements of the installation.
Information needed for a quotation
Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.
Documents and supply information
The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

About brand
TDK Electronics, formerly EPCOS, is a German maker of electronic components headquartered in Munich and owned by Japan's TDK Corporation. EPCOS AG was created in 1999 from Siemens Matsushita Components, a 1989 joint venture of Siemens and Matsushita, and TDK acquired the company fully in October 2009. The EPCOS name remains on many power capacitors, filters and inductors.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list selected TDK Electronics (EPCOS) items with the official data sheet attached to every product page, for panel builders and power quality projects in Oman and the GCC.
