Dahua ASI6214J-MFW-V1 Face Recognition Access Controller

ASI6214J-MFW-V1 is a standalone single-door face recognition access controller from Dahua with a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen, a 2 MP dual-lens camera with IR and white light, a capacitive fingerprint sensor, a card reader and Wi-Fi. It identifies a person in 0.2 seconds from 0.3 to 1.5 m, so it works as the door reader, controller and time-attendance terminal in one unit.

One terminal for face, fingerprint, card, password and QR

The datasheet lists unlock by face, card, password, fingerprint, QR code and remote unlock, which can be combined into personal unlock methods or scheduled by period. Capacity is 20,000 users, 20,000 faces, 10,000 fingerprints, 50,000 cards, 20,000 passwords, 50 administrators and 300,000 records, with 128 periods and 128 holiday periods. Face mask detection, safety helmet detection, visitor QR code, doorbell, video intercom and local attendance reports are included.

The device has one RS-485 and one Wiegand card reader port (Wiegand input and output), an exit button input, door status detection, lock control, one alarm input, tamper alarm, duress alarm and anti-pass-back. OSDP is listed. Dimensions are 174.0 x 87.5 x 22.5 mm and the gross weight is 0.80 kg.

Selection and ordering guide

The datasheet ordering code is DHI-ASI6214J-MFW-V1 (Dahua Single Door Face Recognition Access Controller). The quick start guide notes that the front appearance and ports differ between models, and that the fingerprint function is only available on select models, so confirm that the J variant with fingerprint is what you need.

A security extension module for door-force protection must be bought separately and needs its own power supply; when it is turned on, the exit button, lock control and alarm linkage stop being effective, according to the quick start guide.

Installation and operation notes

From the Dahua quick start guide: recommended mounting height from lens to floor is 1.4 m; light at 0.5 m from the unit should be at least 100 lux; install indoors if possible, at least 3 m from windows and doors and 2 m from light sources, and avoid backlight and direct sun. Mounting uses four wall holes for the bracket, expansion screws, silicone sealant at the cable entry, a back cover with four screws and one screw at the bottom. If used with a turnstile, set the unlock duration to 0.2 seconds.

On first start you choose a language and set the admin password (8 to 32 characters, at least two character types) and email. A user may register up to 5 cards and 3 fingerprints; a duress password is the unlock password plus 1, and passwords are up to 8 digits. The device must be powered only from one supply type and, per the guide, installed at a height of 2 m or below.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Typical uses are staff doors in offices, plant gate houses, labs, warehouses, clinics and accommodation blocks where card sharing and tailgating are a concern. IP65 and -30 to +60 C allow sheltered outdoor use, but Dahua recommends indoor installation away from sun and glare, so shade the unit in hot, bright locations. Face data is personal data: follow local privacy rules and display notice as the guide advises.

Compatible accessories and related items
