Brand:

Donaldson P-SLF 0288-3072 Sterile Air Unit

Description

A mobile sterile air unit with blower and steam-sterilisable filter, to 900 m3/h

The Donaldson P-SLF is a self-contained sterile air unit that cleans ambient air with a pre-filter and a sterile filter driven by a low-pressure blower. It is used to supply sterile air to storage tanks, mixing tanks and filling machines, where a constant exchange of the air cushion at a slight overpressure prevents growth of bacteria, viruses and phages. Eight sizes cover 30 to 900 m3/h, and the unit comes in a mobile or a stationary version.

The sterile chamber and filter elements can be sanitised with saturated steam. A PN 4 version allows sterilisation with steam up to 4 bar or 140 C, named for example P-SLF 0576-4. Food and beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, chemical and cosmetic plants are the target industries.

  • 3072-0: m3/h at 100 mbar 900; m3/h at 200 mbar 790; Power kW 13

Selected sizes of eight. The capacity is quoted at two pressure differences, and the 0288 type is limited to a maximum total difference of 0.17 bar at the blower.

How it works

The blower draws ambient air through the intake into a chamber with a pre-filter on the upstream side. A vacuum relief valve protects the blower as the pre-filter loads. The blower compresses the air by about 0.1 bar and feeds it into the sterile chamber, where the sterile filter retains micro-organisms. During sterilisation a disc valve closes to keep steam out of the blower, and a steam filter is standard on every unit.

Sizes use between two and sixteen sterile elements of the 20/30 or 30/30 type, plus a smaller P-GS steam filter element. Choose the unit by the air volume of the tank or the process and the allowed pressure drop. The sheet is dated 07/10, so confirm the current version with the manufacturer, and state voltage and frequency when you order. Other voltages and frequencies are available on request according to the sheet.

About brand

Donaldson is the American filtration company founded in Minnesota in 1915. It started when Frank Donaldson Sr. built an air cleaner for a tractor engine that kept failing in dusty fields. It is now headquartered in Bloomington, Minnesota, and makes filters and filtration systems for engines, hydraulics, compressed air and gases, dust collection and process liquids.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Donaldson compressed air dryers and filters, gas filter housings, activated carbon adsorbers, hydraulic and fuel filtration and dust collectors, and supply them and their replacement elements in Oman and the GCC.

Milestones

  • 1915: Frank Donaldson Sr. builds an air cleaner for a tractor that kept failing in a dusty field; the family starts Donaldson Company in Minnesota.
  • 1917: Air cleaners are supplied for artillery tractors.
  • 1920s: Exhaust products are added after crop fires caused by engine sparks.
  • 1974: Donaldson acquires Torit, the dust collector business.
  • 2015: The company marks its 100th year.

Compressed air quality is set by ISO 8573-1 classes for particles, water and oil. A typical instrument air system uses a coarse filter and a fine coalescing filter before the dryer, an adsorption dryer for a low pressure dew point (for example -40 °C), and a dust filter after it. An activated carbon stage removes oil vapour where the air touches food or is breathed. Heatless dryers use some of the dry air to regenerate the desiccant, while heat-regenerated and zero-purge types save that air on larger systems.

Where Donaldson products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Donaldson filters and dryers are used for instrument and plant air in oil and gas, refining, power and desalination plants, for breathing air, in food and pharmaceutical production, on hydraulic systems and fuel storage, and in cement and bulk handling.

Ordering Donaldson products: what we need
