Banner RP-QM90F-100L Rope Pull Emergency Stop Switch
Description
A two-sided rope pull switch for conveyor E-stop lines up to 100 m
The RP-QM90F-100L is a two-sided rope pull safety switch from Banner Engineering in a heavy-duty die-cast aluminium alloy housing. Used with steel wire rope it provides stop actuation along conveyors and similar machinery: it is mounted in the centre of a long, straight run of rope, up to 100 m (330 ft) in total, with equal lengths of up to 50 m on either side. It does not accommodate corners along the rope.
Both safety contacts are closed at normal rope tension and open when the rope is pulled, when it breaks, or when tension falls below the normal amount. The contacts then latch open and require a manual reset.

How the switch monitors the rope
The actuator position clearly shows when the rope has proper tension. A pull in either direction, or a cable break on either side, opens the contacts, which is why a single RP-QM90 can protect a long conveyor from either end. Extra contacts are provided for monitoring or to provide a dual-channel input to a safety module such as a Banner ES-FA series E-stop module.
Banner’s datasheet offers a switching diagram showing the run position, cable pulled and cable break states.
Installation notes and accessories
The switch carries a protective earth terminal per IEC 60947-1 and two M20 x 1.5 entrances, one at each end. Metal cable glands such as the SI-QM-CGM20 are listed in the accessories section for cable diameters from about 5 to 12 mm. Overcurrent protection must be provided by the end application according to the table in the datasheet, from 5 A for the heaviest supply wire to 0.5 A for the lightest.
The rope, tensioning hardware and a checkout procedure are the user’s responsibility. Confirm total rope length, number of switches and contact requirements before ordering.

About brand
Banner Engineering is the American maker of industrial sensors, indicator lights, wireless monitoring and machine safety products. Bob Fayfield founded it in 1966 as a small engineering firm in the Minneapolis area. The company is privately held and still based in Minnesota.
Seven Star LLC lists Banner devices including the Q4X rugged stainless steel laser distance sensor and the K50 Pro Beacon IO-Link multicolor RGB indicator, and supplies Banner sensors and indicators to plants and machine builders in Oman.

Banner Q4X and K50 Pro
Banner offers the Q4X in four range versions, all starting at 25 mm: Q4X100 to 100 mm, Q4X300 to 300 mm, Q4X500 to 500 mm and Q4X600 to 600 mm. The series is available with discrete, analog and IO-Link outputs and has a display on the sensor. The K50 Pro Beacon is a status indicator whose color and behavior are set from the controller over IO-Link.

Ordering Banner products: what we need
Send the complete Banner model number from the device label, because range, output type and connector are all coded into it. For the Q4X, state the measuring distance, the output your PLC input needs and the connector or cable style. For indicators, give the housing size, control method and voltage. Mating cordsets and brackets can be included for GCC orders.
