Brand:

Hager ESC125 25 A 1NO 230 V Modular Contactor

Description

One-module 25 A contactor for lighting and resistive switching

The Hager ESC125 is a modular contactor with a single normally open contact rated 25 A, switched by a 230 V AC, 50 Hz coil. It occupies one DIN-rail module (17.85 mm) and is used to switch loads from a remote or automatic command, such as lighting groups, resistive heaters or small domestic-type loads, in distribution boards and building control panels.

The utilisation category printed on the datasheet is AC-7a/AC-7b, which covers slightly inductive and household-type loads. Hager does not list motor categories such as AC-3 for this model, so do not use it to start motors without confirming the rating with the manufacturer.

Choosing a contactor for the load

The 25 A rating applies to the resistive and AC-7 duty stated by Hager; loads with high inrush, such as discharge lighting banks or capacitive electronic ballasts, may need a derated figure or a different contactor. Compare the load current with the rating and allow for the 4000 V impulse category in the installation. With no manual override and a coil rated for 230 V only, the device suits automatic control schemes in which a timer, thermostat or building controller drives the coil.

Coil consumption is small: 10.7 VA on pull-in and 2.5 W dissipated at rated current, which helps when many contactors share one panel. Leave space between adjacent contactors if the board runs hot, because the operating range stops at 50 degrees C.

Installation notes

Wire the supply through the power terminals, which accept rigid conductors up to 10 mm2 and flexible up to 6 mm2, and tighten them to 1.2 Nm. Keep coil circuits protected by a suitable small breaker. For a similar function from another maker, see the Finder 22.32 modular contactor on this site.

About brand

Hager Group is a German family-owned maker of electrical installation systems, founded in January 1955 in Ensheim, Saarland, by Peter Hager with his sons Oswald and Hermann. It first made meter and distribution boards and opened its first French plant in Obernai, Alsace, in 1959. The group is headquartered in Blieskastel, Germany, and still controlled by the Hager family.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Hager protective devices for panel builders and contractors in Oman and the GCC.
