Druck PDCR 1800 / PTX 1800 Titanium Submersible Level Pressure Sensor

Description

A fully submersible titanium sensor for hydrostatic level measurement

The Druck PDCR 1800 (mV output) and PTX 1800 (4 to 20 mA output) are fully submersible titanium pressure sensors for measuring hydrostatic liquid level in boreholes, rivers, canals, reservoirs, sewage works, tanks and seawater. The body is a fully welded 17.5 mm diameter titanium tube, and the sensing element is a micromachined silicon element sealed in a titanium pressure module and isolated from the media.

The cable has a Kevlar strain cord and is rated IP68 for indefinite immersion in 700 mH2O. Two cable materials are offered: vented polyurethane (1830) and vented Hytrel 6108 (1840) for hydrocarbon resistance. Cable lengths are specified in 1 m steps, to 500 m for the PTX 1800 and to 100 m for the PDCR 1800, with 1 m datum marks for fast alignment below ground level.

Accuracy is plus or minus 0.1% FS best straight line, with an improved option, and ranges run from 0.75 to 600 mH2O.

Ordering code and accessories

The model code is PDCR 18 or PTX 18 followed by a cable type digit (3 polyurethane or 4 Hytrel), a lightning surge arrestor digit (0 not required, 5 fitted, PTX versions only), then pressure range and units, options (B intrinsically safe, B1 FM US intrinsically safe, C alternative pressure connection for PTX, D improved accuracy), the cable length and accessories ordered as separate items.

Accessories named in the datasheet are the STE moisture-proof sensor termination enclosure, slimline and short sink weights, a cable clamp system, rotatable calibration adapters for G1/8 or 1/8 NPT and an accessory pack that contains the STE box, sink weight, cable clamp and direct calibration adapter. The related Druck UNIK 5000 platform is listed on this site.

What to confirm before ordering

Select the range in metres of water with margin for the maximum depth, the output type (mV or 4 to 20 mA), the cable material for the liquid, the cable length including the run to the junction box, and whether intrinsic safety, a lightning arrestor or the improved accuracy option is needed. Avoid oxygen-rich media.

How the Druck PDCR 1800 works

The sensor sits under the liquid on the end of a cable. The liquid pressure acts on a diaphragm in the titanium nose. A silicon element turns the pressure into a signal. The cable has a vent tube so the sensor reads the pressure of the liquid above the air pressure. The signal goes up the cable to the logger or the transmitter.
