Kärcher IB 15/120 Dry Ice Blasting Machine
Description
Dry ice blasting without abrasive residue
The Kärcher IB 15/120 Ice Blaster is a dry ice blasting machine that Kärcher describes as one of the most powerful on the market. It accelerates 3 mm dry ice pellets with compressed air to clean surfaces dry, leaving no blasting medium behind because the pellets sublimate on impact.
Dry ice cleaning is used where water, chemicals or abrasives are unwelcome: removing oil, grease, soot, mould release agents, coatings and residues from production tooling and from electrical and mechanical equipment in plants that cannot be flooded. The IB 15/120 has a stainless steel (1.4301) casing and frame and a 40 kg dry ice capacity, with a dry ice consumption of 30 to 120 kg per hour.

Delivered equipment, nozzles and options
The delivery includes a nozzle case with foam insert, grease for the nozzle threads, a flat jet nozzle with 8 mm insert, two open-end wrenches, a round spray nozzle XL long, a spray hose with electrical control cable and quick coupling, and an ergonomic and safe jet gun. Equipment includes an Air-only or Air-and-ice switch on the trigger gun, an electronic control unit, an oil and water separator and a ground strap coil.
Kärcher highlights a nozzle case holder on the side of the machine, a design balanced for movement on uneven terrain with bars at the front and rear to climb stairs, and an automatic residual ice discharge at the touch of a button that prevents the machine from icing up. A wide nozzle range is available.

Compressed air and dry ice supply
The machine needs clean compressed air, dry and oil-free, at 2 to 16 bar and 2 to 12 cubic metres per minute depending on the nozzle and setting, and a supply of dry ice pellets. The compressor must be sized for the highest air flow used. Because dry ice sublimates to carbon dioxide gas, blasting in closed or poorly ventilated rooms needs gas monitoring and ventilation.
Documents and quotation
The Kärcher product information sheet is attached as the datasheet. Before ordering, confirm compressor capacity and air quality, the source of 3 mm pellets, the nozzle set for the surfaces to be cleaned and the safety requirements for noise and carbon dioxide at the work location.

About brand
Kärcher is a German, family-owned manufacturer of cleaning equipment, founded in 1935 by Alfred Kärcher in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt and based in Winnenden since 1939. Its first products were hot-air blowers for warming aircraft engines; in 1950 the company built what it describes as Europe's first hot-water high-pressure cleaner. After Alfred Kärcher's death in 1959, his wife Irene Kärcher steered the business fully towards cleaning.
