The Mean Well WDR-240-24 is a 240 W DIN rail power supply with a 24 V DC output at 10 A. Why a wide input range is useful

Machine builders who ship equipment to sites with different supply systems often stock several supplies for 230 V, 400 V and 480 V. A unit with a 180 to 550 VAC range removes that variation, and the same 24 V, 10 A supply can be fitted to every machine. Check that the actual installation connects the unit to a supported combination of conductors and that upstream protection is appropriate for the cold-start inrush of 50 A.

Operating behaviour to plan for

Overload and overvoltage conditions shut down the output after 3 seconds and the supply then recovers by itself after one minute once the fault is gone, so a persistent fault produces a cycling output rather than a latch. The DC OK relay lets the controller see that cycling. The power factor is 0.84 or higher, lower than the PFC-based three-phase TDR-480, which is a reasonable trade for the wider input window. Mount on TS-35/7.5 or TS-35/15 rail with the clearances in the datasheet. Mark the connection scheme used on each machine in the electrical documentation, so service engineers know which conductors are wired to the input terminals.
