Mean Well XDR-75E-12 Ultra-Slim DIN Rail Power Supply

Description

A 30 mm wide 12 V supply that works down to -40 C

The Mean Well XDR-75E-12 is an economical ultra-slim DIN rail power supply with a 12 V DC output at 6.3 A (75.6 W). The XDR-75E series is only 30 mm wide, accepts 85 to 264 Vac, and is specified from -40 to +70 C, which makes it a candidate for outdoor cabinets and unheated enclosures where a plastic-cased supply would struggle.

The datasheet quotes up to 91% efficiency across the series (89% typical at 12 V), no-load power consumption below 1 W, a built-in constant current limit, a DC OK relay contact and over-voltage category III compliance. The housing is fanless, the series can be used up to 5000 m altitude with derating, and Mean Well gives a three-year warranty.

Space and temperature are the selling points

A 30 mm wide supply gains rail space in a cabinet with many terminals and relays, and 75 W is enough for a PLC with I/O, a router and a few sensors on 12 V. The wide temperature specification, down to -40 C, is the other reason to consider it. Plan for derating at high ambient temperature and at altitude above 2000 m according to the curve in the datasheet.

Standards and certification points

The datasheet lists CB certificates to IEC 62368-1, IEC 61558-1/-2-16 and IEC 61010-1/-2-201, with UL/cUL 61010-1 and EAC approval. Check the revision date on the datasheet when your project needs a specific approval, because the datasheet marks the KC and BIS certificates as available by request only. The unit includes SELV isolation of 4 kVac between input and output, which the datasheet lists as the withstand voltage. In unheated enclosures check the lowest expected temperature against the datasheet range and avoid condensation on the terminals.

About brand

Mean Well is a Taiwanese manufacturer of standard power supplies, founded in 1982 and headquartered in New Taipei City. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists Mean Well DIN rail, enclosed and DC-DC power supplies for control panels, automation equipment and electronics.

Mean Well power supply families

The catalogue covers DIN rail power supplies from 15 W to several hundred watts in single-phase and three-phase versions, enclosed chassis supplies with fan or convection cooling, medical-standard supplies, DIN rail DC-DC converters and many other formats. Each series has a datasheet that lists all output voltages, derating curves and approvals. The standard catalogue format suits machine builders, panel builders and maintenance teams that need a documented, replaceable supply rather than a custom design.

Ordering Mean Well power supplies: what we need

State the exact model code, the output voltage and current, the mains or DC input range and frequency, the mounting style, the cabinet temperature and any approvals required, so the correct variant can be quoted.
