GCE X21 Original 202232211 Multi-Flame Heating Attachment

Description

A multi-flame heating head for preheating and forming

The GCE X21 Original 202232211 is a multi-flame heating attachment for oxygen and acetylene, sized for 2500 l/h. It fits the X21 shank and spreads heat over a wider area than a single welding flame, which makes it suitable for preheating before welding, heating parts for bending and straightening, loosening seized fittings and shrink fitting.

GCE specifies working pressures of 6 bar oxygen and 0.4 bar acetylene for this size. The photo shows the attachment on an X21 shank.

Sizing a heating attachment

The l/h figure indicates the gas throughput and therefore the heat input. A 2500 l/h head is a middle size: large enough for preheating medium plate and pipe, but still manageable by hand. For thick sections or large areas choose 5000 l/h; for small parts 1000 l/h gives better control. Propane heads are available where acetylene is not wanted, and the propane range goes up to 7000 l/h.

Supply and safety

High-flow heating draws a lot of gas, and acetylene cylinders have a limited safe withdrawal rate, so a large heating head may need manifolded cylinders. Regulators and hoses must be sized for the flow, and flashback arrestors fitted. Check temperature with crayons or a contact thermometer when a welding procedure specifies a preheat range.

Multi-flame heads produce a broad, soft heat that is less likely to burn the surface than a single concentrated flame, which is why they are preferred for preheating. Keep the head moving and hold it at a steady distance from the work so the heat soaks in evenly. Single-flame heads give more concentrated heat for local spot heating and straightening.

Store heating attachments with the nozzle protected, and clean the flame ports with the correct cleaning needles; enlarged or damaged ports produce uneven flames and can cause backfire.

For longer heating jobs, rest the shank on a stand between passes rather than laying the hot head on the floor or workpiece.

Match the regulator outlet range and hose size to the attachment, since a 2500 l/h head needs a steady acetylene supply at the specified working pressure throughout the heating cycle.

About brand

GCE is a manufacturer of gas control equipment for industrial, medical and specialty gases, with its global headquarters in Steinhausen, Switzerland. The GCE Group was founded in 1987 as a maker of gas equipment. Since 2018 GCE has been part of ESAB.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list the X511 Original oxy-fuel cutting torch and source GCE gas welding and cutting equipment on request.

GCE equipment for welding and cutting

For gas welding and cutting the manufacturer offers cutting and welding sets, combination torches and hand cutting torches such as the X11 and X511 ranges, cutting nozzles, cylinder regulators and line regulators. Outside welding, GCE supplies equipment for medical gases and for high-purity specialty gases. Products are documented with instructions for use and declarations of conformity.

Ordering GCE torches and regulators: what we need

Give the GCE article number, or the product range with length, head angle and inlet threads. State the fuel gas, acetylene or propane, because the nozzle type depends on it, together with the plate thickness you cut and the safety devices required on site.
