LESER High Performance Series – Type 441/442 Safety Valves
Overview
The LESER High Performance Series is LESER’s core cast-body safety valve platform, built around the Type 441/442 family of rolled-in-seat, spring-loaded safety valves. Rather than a single model, the series is a coordinated product line covering both DIN-flanged and ASME-flanged variants sharing one engineering philosophy — robust cast body construction, standardized seat geometry, and interchangeable internal components — so that a plant engineer can specify one design standard across an entire facility regardless of whether the connecting flange is metric or imperial.
With fast quotation turnaround and technical support, Seven Star LLC proudly supplies the LESER High Performance Series to refineries, power generation plants, petrochemical complexes, and general process industries throughout Oman and the wider GCC, backed by genuine manufacturer documentation, warranty support, and local technical guidance.
Operating Principle
Every valve in the High Performance Series is a direct-acting, spring-loaded safety valve. Process pressure acts continuously on the underside of the disc through the nozzle bore, and the instant that force exceeds the calibrated spring load, the disc lifts off its seat and the medium discharges through the valve outlet until the pressure falls back below the reseating point and the spring reseats the disc. The rolled-in seat design used across Type 441/442 distributes seating stress evenly around the seat ring, which is what gives the platform its long service life, repeatable set-pressure accuracy, and dependable reseating behavior over thousands of lift cycles.
Because the series spans a very wide pressure and temperature envelope, LESER offers multiple bonnet, spring, and bellows configurations within the same body family — open bonnet or closed bonnet, with or without a balancing bellows to compensate for back pressure — without changing the fundamental cast-body architecture that installers and maintenance teams are already familiar with. The practical result is fewer spare-part variants to stock, faster technician training, and a predictable maintenance interval across an entire safety valve population.
Engineering Design of the LESER High Performance Series
The Type 441/442 DIN variant is supplied with DIN EN 1092 flanged connections from DN 20 up to DN 400, in gray cast iron, nodular cast iron, or cast steel bodies depending on service temperature and pressure class, while the Type 441/442 ANSI variant covers the equivalent NPS ¾ to NPS 16 range on ASME B16.5 Class 150 to Class 300 flanges in cast carbon steel (SA216 WCB) or cast stainless steel (SA351 CF8M) for corrosive or high-temperature media. Orifice sizes across the family run from F through X, giving specifying engineers fine control over relief capacity without oversizing the connecting pipework.
Internally, the disc, spindle, and spring are guided concentrically within the bonnet to keep the lift axis true under dynamic discharge loads, and the spring housing is sized so that the same external envelope can accept different spring rates as the set pressure changes — a key reason the series covers such a broad pressure band without a change of body casting. Seat and disc materials are matched to the body material and can be upgraded independently of the body for services where the wetted trim sees more aggressive media than the pressure boundary itself.
Key Features
The LESER High Performance Series brings together the following strengths across its Type 441/442 DIN and ANSI variants:
- Rolled-in seat design on both DIN and ANSI variants delivers consistent, repeatable set-pressure accuracy over the working life of the valve.
- Pressure coverage from 0.1 bar to roughly 49 bar (CE) and up to 49.3 bar (ASME) suits everything from low-pressure vents to demanding process duties.
- Wide temperature range of –270°C to 450°C on CE-certified units and –268°C to 538°C on ASME units covers cryogenic through high-temperature steam service.
- Size range from DN 20 to DN 400 (DIN) or NPS ¾ to NPS 16 (ANSI) fits everything from small instrument vents to large boiler and vessel outlets.
- Body material options including 1.0619 carbon steel and 1.4408 stainless steel (DIN) or SA216 WCB and SA351 CF8M (ANSI) match the valve to the corrosivity and temperature of the protected system.
- ASME B16.5 Class 150 through Class 300 flange ratings on the ANSI variant simplify integration into North American and Gulf EPC piping specifications.
- Orifice designations from F to X give precise capacity selection without forcing an oversized connection size.
- Cast-body construction proven across decades of installed base gives plant reliability engineers a long service-history track record to rely on.
Industrial Applications
The LESER High Performance Series is the default safety valve choice wherever a plant needs dependable overpressure protection across steam boilers, compressed air and gas systems, and general liquid process lines — the Type 441/442 platform is found protecting pressure vessels, heat exchangers, steam headers, and process columns across refineries, gas processing plants, desalination facilities, and district cooling plants throughout the region.
With engineering support in Muscat, Seven Star LLC supplies the High Performance Series on request to EPC contractors, plant operators, and maintenance teams across Muscat, the Sohar Freezone and industrial port, the Salalah Free Zone, and the wider Sultanate of Oman and GCC, with manufacturer documentation and technical support from a locally based team.
Technical Specifications
Because the High Performance Series covers two connection standards and multiple sub-variants, the table below compares the family by type rather than listing a single model:
| Type | Size Range | Pressure Range | Temperature Range | Key Feature |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Type 441/442 DIN | DN 20 – DN 400 | 0.1 – 49 bar | –270°C to 450°C | DIN EN 1092 flanged, rolled-in seat, cast iron/steel body |
| Type 441/442 ANSI | NPS ¾ – NPS 16 | 1 – 49.3 bar | –268°C to 538°C | ASME B16.5 Class 150–300 flanged, WCB/CF8M body |

LESER safety valve product groups
LESER sorts its valves into named groups, and the type number identifies the design:- API: Type 526 flanged safety relief valves to API 526 dimensions
- High Performance: Type 441/442 flanged valves, and Type 455/456 and 457/458 for high pressure
- Compact Performance: threaded Types 437, 459 and 462
- High Efficiency: pilot-operated safety valves such as the pop action Type 811
- Critical Service: Types 447 and 449 for corrosive media, the 447 with PTFE-lined wetted parts
- Clean Service: hygienic valves for food and pharmaceutical plants
Where LESER safety valves are used
LESER safety valves protect pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, compressors, pumps and piping against overpressure in oil and gas, refining, petrochemical, power, industrial gas, food and pharmaceutical plants throughout the GCC. Spring-loaded valves are the standard choice. Pilot-operated valves are selected where operating pressure runs close to set pressure or back pressure is high.Ordering LESER valves: what we need
A safety valve is always built to a set pressure, so a type number alone cannot be quoted. Please send the nameplate data of the existing valve (type, article or job number, serial number, set pressure, orifice) or a full data sheet: medium and its state, set pressure, operating and relieving temperature, back pressure, required capacity, inlet and outlet size and rating, body and trim material, design code (ASME Section VIII or PED) and options such as bellows, lifting lever or sour service materials. We verify the selection against LESER documentation and supply the manufacturer's certificates on request.Browse LESER products by category: Safety Relief Valves.
