LESER Type 441/442 DIN High Performance Safety Valve
Overview
The LESER Type 441/442 DIN is a spring-loaded, full-lift safety valve from LESER’s High Performance series, purpose-built for the broad range of industrial pressure-relief duties found across process plants, utilities, and manufacturing facilities. Configured with DIN EN 1092 flanged connections, the Type 441/442 DIN covers a working range of DN 20 to DN 400 and PN 16 to PN 40, making it one of the most versatile members of the LESER High Performance family and a natural first choice wherever steam, non-corrosive gas, or liquid systems need dependable overpressure protection without the cost or lead time of a custom-engineered valve.
With fast quotation turnaround and technical support, Seven Star LLC proudly supplies the Type 441/442 DIN to process plants, refineries, power stations, and utility operators across Oman and the wider GCC. Buyers in Muscat, Sohar, and Salalah gain access to genuine LESER hardware, factory-certified documentation, and the application engineering support needed to size and specify the correct valve for boiler feedwater lines, steam headers, compressor discharge piping, and general vessel protection.
Operating Principle
The LESER Type 441/442 DIN is a direct spring-loaded safety valve: process pressure acts on the underside of the disc through the rolled-in seat, and the valve remains closed as long as the upward force generated by that pressure is lower than the downward force exerted by the calibrated spring. When system pressure reaches the set point, the disc lifts off the seat and the valve opens rapidly to full lift, discharging the excess fluid until pressure falls back to a safe blow-down level and the spring reseats the disc. This full-lift, direct-acting behaviour is what allows the valve to relieve within roughly 5% of set pressure rather than the wider overpressure allowance needed by proportional-lift designs.
Because the valve is entirely mechanical, with no external power, signal, or pilot line required, it continues to function during instrument air loss, power failure, or control system faults – exactly the failure scenarios where overpressure protection matters most. The rolled-in seat and hardened trim resist wire-drawing and seat damage across repeated lifts, while the bonnet and spring housing are sized to keep spring temperature within safe limits even on higher-temperature steam service, protecting long-term set-pressure accuracy.
Engineering Design of the LESER Type 441/442 DIN
The LESER Type 441/442 DIN is available in gray cast iron, nodular cast iron, carbon steel, and stainless steel body materials, allowing the same basic platform to cover everything from utility steam and compressed air through to more demanding process gas and mildly corrosive liquid duty. DIN EN 1092 flanges from PN 16 up to PN 40 mate directly with standard European piping classes, and orifice sizes from F through X give a broad capacity range within a single valve family, so engineers can standardize on one product line across a wide span of vessel and line sizes.
Installation follows conventional inline flanged practice, with the valve mounted vertically at the protected vessel or line and the outlet routed to a safe discharge point or header. The open bonnet/spring housing construction gives technicians clear access for periodic testing, set-pressure verification, and seat inspection without full valve removal in most configurations, and standard lifting levers are available where local code requires manual operability testing. Optional bellows and cap configurations extend the base design into back-pressure and open-atmosphere applications without changing the core body casting.
Key Features
The LESER Type 441/442 DIN combines broad size coverage with the material flexibility that a LESER Type 441/442 DIN buyer expects, process engineers need to standardize their safety valve population. Highlights include:
- Wide connection range from DN 20 to DN 400 in DIN EN 1092 flange classes PN 16 to PN 40, covering small instrument lines through large vessel nozzles.
- Pressure setting range of 0.1 to 40 bar (CE) or 1 to 40 bar (ASME), suiting most utility and process steam, gas, and liquid duties.
- Temperature capability from -270°C to 450°C (CE) and -268°C to 538°C (ASME), spanning cryogenic to high-temperature steam service.
- Body material options in gray cast iron, nodular cast iron, carbon steel, and stainless steel to match media compatibility and code requirements.
- Orifice sizes F through X, giving flow diameters from approximately 18 to 295 mm within one platform.
- Full-lift, rolled-in seat design that opens rapidly and reseats reliably, minimizing overpressure excursion.
- Broad third-party approvals including CE, VdTÜV, ASME, CRN, EAC, TS, UKCA, and marine classification societies such as DNV, ABS, Lloyd’s Register, and Bureau Veritas.
- Standard delivery of roughly two weeks for common configurations, reducing turnaround on maintenance, turnaround, and new-build schedules.
Industrial Applications
The LESER Type 441/442 DIN is deployed wherever pressure vessels, boilers, and process piping running on steam, air, non-corrosive gas, or liquid media need code-compliant overpressure relief. Typical installations include utility steam distribution headers, boiler feedwater and blowdown systems, compressor discharge and air receiver protection, storage tank and separator vessel relief, and general process piping across oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, desalination, and district cooling plants. Its broad DN 20–400 range means the same valve family can protect anything from a small instrument take-off to a large vessel nozzle.
With regional stock and engineering support in Muscat, Seven Star LLC distributes the Type 441/442 DIN throughout Oman and the GCC, supporting refineries and gas processing facilities in Sohar, desalination and power plants in Salalah, and industrial estates across Muscat and the wider Sultanate of Oman. Regional EPC contractors and plant operators specifying safety valves for new-build projects or turnaround replacement programs work directly with Seven Star LLC’s instrumentation division for correct sizing, ValveStar calculation support, and genuine factory documentation.
