AccuChrome™ GC5 Gas Chromatograph Analyzer
Description
Overview
The AccuChrome™ GC5 represents a fundamental shift in gas chromatography, redefining the GC from a complex analytical instrument into a deployable, field-ready sensor. Built on silicon-miniaturized, modular GC technology, the GC5 delivers ultra-fast, high-precision multi-gas analysis in a dramatically smaller footprint, with far lower operational complexity than traditional process GCs, delivering laboratory-grade gas chromatography deployed like a sensor.
With engineering support in Muscat, Seven Star LLC offers the AccuChrome™ GC5 to natural gas custody transfer operators, biomethane producers, and gas quality monitoring programs across the Sultanate of Oman, Muscat, and the wider GCC. Purpose-engineered for continuous online operation and seamless integration with DCS and asset management systems, the GC5 supports high-accuracy custody transfer, natural gas quality monitoring, sulfur analysis, and biomethane measurement on a single platform using a single carrier gas.
Measurement Principle
The AccuChrome™ GC5 architecture supports up to four independent analytical chains, each with its own injector, column, and detector, operating in the same analyzer. Modular analytical cores enable faster deployment and reduced downtime, contributing to low mean time to repair (MTTR) in operational environments. The GC5 delivers exceptional analytical performance with high repeatability and robust limits of detection, using low carrier gas consumption with helium, hydrogen, or argon.
Multiple application-specific measurement suites are made possible by combining two detector styles: a micro-thermal conductivity detector (μTCD) and a patented nano-gravimetric detector (NGD), the latter expanding measurement capability beyond conventional process GCs. Standard heating value calculations comply with ASTM D3588 (GPA 2172) and ISO 6976, and one-click operation delivers C1-C6 heating value analysis in under two minutes, reducing operator burden and specialist dependency.
Engineering Design of the AccuChrome™ GC5
The AccuChrome™ GC5 is designed with measurement certainty at its core: built-in self-verification reduces calibration and maintenance demand to once a year, and the modular analytical core design speeds deployment while reducing downtime. Its small footprint is purpose-built for automated operations and remote access, integrating with control systems using Modbus protocols over either TCP/IP or RTU.
The GC5 achieves high repeatability (10% RSD) and robust limits of detection (2ppm or less), with carrier gas consumption of 20 sccm or less and sample gas consumption of 30 sccm or less—a significant reduction compared with legacy process GC platforms. This efficiency directly translates into lower operating cost and less frequent gas cylinder replacement for continuously operating installations. The AccuChrome™ GC5 is available in enclosure configurations matched to the area classification of the installation site: a stainless steel NEMA 4/4X, IP65 enclosure for Class I Division 2 duty, a cast-aluminum NEMA 4/4X/7, IP65 enclosure for Class I Division 1 installations, and a Zone 1-rated cast-aluminum NEMA 3, IP54 version certified Ex db [ia Ga] IIB + H2 T3 Gb for ambient temperatures from −20°C to +60°C under ATEX and IECEx schemes, alongside CEC/NEC Class I Division 1 and Division 2, Groups B, C, D, T3 certification and Measurement Canada approval for custody transfer duty. Power requirements are modest at 24 VDC or 90 to 240 VAC, drawing up to 100 W at start-up and settling to 50 W running, and the analyzer operates across an ambient range of −20°C to +60°C at up to 95% non-condensing relative humidity, extending to a 50°C limit when fitted with the NEMS sample-conditioning enclosure. Standard dimensions are 686 x 838 x 318 mm (27 x 33 x 12.5 in) at approximately 38.6 kg (85 lb) for the Division 2 build, rising to roughly 54.4 kg (120 lb) for the Division 1 and Zone 1 versions and up to 81.6 kg (180 lb) with the full NEMS package fitted; local RS232 and RS485 serial ports and a PC-based GUI over Ethernet supplement the standard Modbus TCP/IP and RTU links already used for DCS integration.
Available Models & Measurement Capability
The AccuChrome™ GC5 is offered in application-specific configurations to match specific measurement needs:

About brand
Hydrogen sulfide measurement in natural gas is where Galvanic Applied Sciences built its name, and its lead acetate tape analyzers are written into many gas quality specifications. The company was founded in 1975 and is based in Calgary, Canada. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Galvanic process analyzers for gas and liquid streams, together with their consumables and spare parts, for operators in Oman, working from the analyzer model, serial number and application data.
Galvanic analyzer families listed here
Galvanic analyzers on this page fall into three groups:
- Sulfur and gas quality: ProTech903 and ProTech 1000 Z2 tape-based H2S and total sulfur analyzers, the AccuLase-GPA tunable diode laser analyzer for H2S, CO2 and H2O, and AccuChrome gas chromatographs for heating value and composition
- Sulfur recovery: Brimstone analyzer systems and the 943-TGX tail gas analyzer

GasMicro and GasMicro NG electronic volume correctors complete the list.
Where Galvanic analyzers are used
The manufacturer names natural gas processing, pipelines and distribution, refining and oil production, chemical and petrochemical production, power and biogas, water and wastewater, and food and beverage as its markets. In the GCC the common duties are H2S and total sulfur at sales gas and custody transfer points, tail gas control on Claus sulfur recovery units, heating value measurement, and oil-in-water monitoring of produced water.
Ordering Galvanic analyzers and parts: what we need
For a new Galvanic H2S analyzer or chromatograph, send the stream composition, the component and range to be measured, sample pressure and temperature, the number of streams, area classification, power supply and the outputs required. For consumables and spares such as sensing tape, lamps, columns or pump parts, send the analyzer model and serial number and the part number from the manual. Manuals differ by generation, so a nameplate photo helps us check the item against the manufacturer's documentation.
