United Electric TX300 Explosion-Proof Pressure Transmitter

Description

A compact explosion-proof pressure transmitter for hazardous-area process lines

The United Electric TX300 is a stick-style pressure transmitter built in a welded 316 stainless steel body for locations where space is limited and the area is classified. It is certified flameproof (ATEX and IECEx Ex db IIC T5) and listed to UL for Class I and II hazardous locations, with a Type 4X / IP66 enclosure rating and 72 inch colour-coded leadwires. Ranges run from 0 to 5 psig up to 0 to 30,000 psig, with absolute ranges from 0 to 15 psia to 0 to 300 psia, and the sensor is temperature compensated at the measurement point. There are no external adjustments, so the unit is set at the factory and shipped with a certificate of calibration.

Building a part number

The bulletin builds the order code in sequence: type, two-digit pressure range code, wetted material (S, welded stainless steel), pressure connection (1 to 6), electrical connection (N or M) and options. Its example is TX300 T 11 S 2 N M446, meaning 4-20 mA, range 11 (0 to 5 psig), welded stainless, 1/2 NPT female process port, 1/2 NPT male conduit thread and a stainless steel ID tag. Gauge range codes 11 to 30 and absolute range codes 03 to 07 each carry stated proof and burst pressures. Options include bar, kPa/MPa or kg/cm2 range markings, EN 10204 type 2.1 or 3.1 material compliance, paper or stainless ID tags and an external ground screw.

Selection and installation notes

Because the output is a loop-powered 4-20 mA signal on the standard version, the TX300 suits tank and line pressure points that feed a DCS or PLC input directly. High-pressure autoclave ports are offered only on the higher ranges, and the 7/16-20 SAE port is limited to some ranges, so confirm the connection against the range chart. Accessories include a junction box and terminal kit (not pre-wired), one of them ATEX flameproof compliant; neither is available with the M20 conduit version. For switch-type protection on the same hazardous lines, see the United Electric One Series 1XSWLL; more instruments sit under Pressure Instrumentation.

Documents and quotation

The attached United Electric TX300 bulletin (TX300-B 01) holds the specification, range and proof pressure tables, connection availability, options and certifications. To receive a quotation, send the full part number, range, output, process connection, conduit thread, required approval and quantity. Confirm the area classification and the certificate marking needed on site before ordering, and note that the HART version is shown as pending in the bulletin.

About brand

United Electric Controls has made pressure and temperature switches since 1931 in Watertown, USA. Instrument technicians usually shorten the name to UE, which is also what appears on many nameplates.

Seven Star LLC lists United Electric pressure switches from the H100 family and the One Series and supplies them to plants in Oman for alarm and shutdown duties.

United Electric pressure switches listed here

Two kinds of UE switch are on this page:

  • H100-172, H100-190, H100-361 and H100-376: electromechanical pressure switches from the 100 Series, which the manufacturer builds in a NEMA 4X enclosure. The number after the dash is the model that fixes the sensor type and the adjustable range.
  • One Series 1XSWLL: an electronic pressure switch with a digital display, from UE's explosion-proof One Series.

An H100 switch needs no power to operate its contacts. A One Series unit is an electronic device, so its supply and output wiring must be considered when it replaces a mechanical switch.

Where United Electric switches are used

Pressure switches of this kind sit on pump discharge lines, compressor lube oil systems, burner trains, hydraulic units and process vessels. They raise an alarm or trip equipment when pressure moves outside a set limit. In oil and gas, power and water plants across the GCC they are found in alarm and shutdown circuits and on packaged equipment.

Ordering United Electric switches: what we need

A UE model is a string: the type, the model number and then option codes. Send it complete, exactly as on the nameplate, for example H100-190 plus any option codes that follow. If the nameplate is unreadable, give us the adjustable range, the set point and whether it acts on rising or falling pressure, the process connection, the wetted material, the switch output and the enclosure or hazardous-area requirement. For the One Series, the full 1XSWLL code with its range and option suffixes is needed. We check each code against the manufacturer documentation and propose the manufacturer's successor if a model is no longer built.
