Discrete valve controllers in three housing materials
The TopWorx D-Series valve controllers DXP, DXR and DXS monitor and control on/off valves and actuators. The DXP has a cast aluminium enclosure, the DXS a cast 316 stainless steel enclosure and the DXR a Valox 364 enclosure with a polycarbonate dome. The Master Installation, Operation and Maintenance Manual covers the whole range in one document: GO Switch sensors, mechanical switches, inductive sensors, 4-20 mA transmitters, HART devices, FOUNDATION Fieldbus (D2-FF), AS-i, other bus options, and integrated spool valves and pilots with proof-testing guidance for emergency shutdown duty.

Choosing the model and option
Select the housing from the environment: aluminium DXP for general industrial use, 316 stainless DXS for corrosive atmospheres, and DXR where a non-metallic enclosure is preferred. Then choose the sensing option (GO Switch, mechanical, inductive, transmitter or bus) and whether a spool valve or pilot is integrated. The manual states that the unit does not support its IP/NEMA rating until conduit, conduit covers and spool valve port connections are properly installed, since it ships with temporary covers. Proof testing for safety functions is described in a dedicated section, which should be read for emergency shutdown applications.
