Description
Two-stage pilot-operated pressure valve for clutch and lube oil circuits
The KRACHT DV S pressure stage control valve belongs to the KRACHT DV family of hydraulically pilot-controlled seat valves. Its basic construction is the same as the DV B pressure relief valve, but it carries two pilot control valves connected in parallel, each set to a different pressure, plus an integrated 2/2 directional solenoid valve. Energising or de-energising the solenoid switches the low pressure stage in or out, so the system can run at two defined pressure levels without changing the adjustment.
KRACHT names the clutch control of ship transmissions as a typical application: a low pre-pressure fills the clutch, then the valve switches to the higher clutch pressure.

How the DV range is configured
The same main valve is used for three functions. The DV B is the plain pressure relief valve, the DV R is a pressure control valve with an external control-oil tap for lube oil circuits, and the DV S adds the second pilot and the solenoid valve. KRACHT states that the DV valves are dimensionally interchangeable with its SPV and HV valves, which helps when an older valve is replaced. An example code built from the type key is DV S 50 S 2 F 1 S 035 S 1 C 2, where the positions define size, sealing, connection with internal or external drain, pressure stage, solenoid function and voltage.
Control oil can be drained internally or externally through port Y. Counter-pressure in the tank or drain line adds to the set pressure, so the drain arrangement should be checked when the valve is sized.
Selection and installation
Select NS 50 or NS 80 from the maximum flow and check the pressure drop against the curves in the datasheet. The valve can be mounted in any position. Keep the oil within the stated cleanliness class, because pilot stages are sensitive to contamination. For a single-pressure application the KRACHT DV B pressure relief valve is the simpler choice.
