Dwyer Series 607D DIN Rail Low Range DP Transmitter

Description

Series 607D low-range differential pressure transmitter for DIN rail

The Dwyer Series 607D measures very small differential pressures, with ranges from 0.1 in w.c. to 25 in w.c., in a housing that clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail. It sends a 4-20 mA signal in a 2-wire loop, has red and green LEDs that indicate proper operation, and offers ±0.25 % full-scale accuracy. The ranges include bi-directional types such as 0 to ±0.05 in w.c.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Series 607D in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat. Read on for the model chart, the practical points about low-range measurement and the application guidance.

How the Series 607D handles very low pressures

The sensing element is designed for very small pressure differences while resisting overpressure up to 15 psi. The transmitter converts the signal into a 4-20 mA current and a two-colour LED shows proper operation, helping a technician see status without a meter. Accuracy is quoted at room temperature, with a compensated range between 0 and 77 °C and a thermal effect of ±0.01 % FS per degree F.

At very low ranges a small tubing or temperature error is large compared with the signal, so installation quality counts for more than on higher ranges. Keep tubes short, equal in length and free of condensate, and avoid mounting in direct heat or draughts. Allow a warm-up period before zeroing.

The service is limited to air and non-conductive, non-corrosive gases; it is not intended for process fluids that might attack the wetted materials.

Placing the Series 607D

The Series 607D is the DIN-rail model for ultra-low ranges. The Series 607 offers a similar range in a stainless steel NEMA 2 housing with a 12 to 36 V DC supply. The Series 616D is a DIN rail model with ranges starting at 0 to 6 in w.c., and the 616KX and 616W cover other mounting needs.

The device is typical for clean room, laboratory and leak detection applications.

Selection and ordering checklist for the Series 607D

  • Range code, including bidirectional types if both signs are needed
  • Accuracy requirement and calibration certificate
  • Supply 16-32 V DC and loop resistance up to 800 Ω
  • Tube length and routing
  • DIN rail space
  • Gas compatibility with wetted materials

Installing and zeroing the Series 607D

Mount vertically on the rail, connect the tubing with the barbed fittings, and wire power and signal into the removable terminal block. Allow warm-up and then adjust zero with both ports equalised.

Do not exceed the 15 psi pressure limit. Overpressure during leak testing of ducts can shift the zero. Verify zero after any suspected overpressure, and check calibration annually at least.

Typical applications in Oman and the GCC

HVAC pressurization, clean room control, filter status, leak detection and laboratory fume hood control are the typical uses. For hospital, laboratory and pharmaceutical facilities in Oman, where room pressure cascades must be maintained, low-range transmitters of this type provide the signal to the control system.

Because the lowest ranges are so sensitive, think about what else moves the signal: wind pressure on an outdoor reference port, door openings, supply fan start-up and temperature changes along the tubing all produce readings of a few hundredths of an inch of water. A static pressure tip such as the A-302F-A offered by the maker for the 607 family, or a shielded reference point, is the usual way to obtain a stable reference. Where a room pressure alarm is derived from the signal, set a delay in the controller so that a short door opening does not generate a nuisance alarm.

Site conditions in Oman for the Series 607D

Field instruments in Oman are exposed to strong sun, high ambient temperature, wind-blown dust and, on coastal plants, salt in the air. When you specify the Series 607D, check the ambient and process temperature limits, the enclosure rating and the wetted and housing materials against the actual installation point, and consider sunshades for transmitters mounted in direct sunlight. Cable entries should be sealed with suitable glands so that dust and moisture cannot enter the housing.

Calibration and verification planning matters as much as selection. Record the range, configuration and tag data of each Series 607D at commissioning, define a check interval that suits the criticality of the loop, and keep the certificates with the plant documentation so that audits and shutdown work can proceed without delay.

About brand

Dwyer Instruments is an American maker of pressure, flow, level and temperature instruments, founded in Chicago in 1931 as F.W. Dwyer Manufacturing Company to make liquid-filled manometers. It later moved to Michigan City, Indiana, and became known for the Magnehelic differential pressure gauge. Dwyer bought OMEGA Engineering in 2022, and the combined business trades as DwyerOmega.

Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Dwyer instruments for projects and plant maintenance in Oman and the GCC, and checks each order code against the manufacturer's documentation.

Four Dwyer lines are listed. The Magnehelic 2000 is a diaphragm-type differential pressure gauge for air and compatible non-combustible gases. The Photohelic 3000MR and 3000MRS combine the gauge with switching, with relay (MR) or solid-state (MRS) outputs. The Series MSX Magnesense is a differential pressure transmitter for building and HVAC air systems. The Flotect V6 is a flow switch; the listed V6EPS-S-S-4-S version is SPDT, in stainless steel, for 1-1/4 inch lines.

Ordering Dwyer instruments: what we need

Send the full model number from the dial or label, because the range is part of it: a 2000-series Magnehelic number changes with the scale and the units. For Photohelic units add the supply voltage and output type. For Dwyer pressure transmitters state range, output signal and display option. For flow switches give line size, medium, wetted material and enclosure type. Recent paperwork may carry the DwyerOmega name; the model numbers stay the reference.

Facts checked against DwyerOmega's Dwyer brand page and HVAC Today, October 2026.
