Danfoss 060G1052 AKS 3000 Pressure Transmitter -1 to 12 bar

Description

AKS 3000: a stainless-steel transmitter for low-pressure refrigeration and A/C control

The 060G1052 is a Danfoss AKS 3000, a member of the series that the data sheet describes as transmitters with a high-level, signal-conditioned 4 to 20 mA output, developed for air-conditioning and refrigeration. It measures -1 to 12 bar, so it reads vacuum as well as positive pressure, and the compensated band of -30 to 40 C is placed on the suction side of a plant.

All parts touching the refrigerant and the housing are AISI 316L stainless steel according to the data sheet, there are no soft gaskets, and the seals are laser-welded. The piezoresistive principle and sealed gauge reference mean that atmospheric swings do not disturb low-pressure regulation.

Suction-side control and its limits

Use this code where the controller needs the pressure of an evaporator or of a low-pressure receiver: the 12 bar span makes the 4 to 20 mA step small enough for fine regulation of suction pressure or of expansion valve superheat. Typical accuracy is 1 % of span, with a maximum of 2 %, and the non-linearity limit is 0.5 %.

It is the version without a pulse-snubber. The related AKS 3050 adds a snubber for liquid hammer and cavitation; that is a different code number. If your line has pressure peaks, ask us for the snubber type rather than relying on the overload rating of 33 bar.

Hazardous-area and installation notes

The sales text on the store page gives II 3G Ex nA IIA T3 Gc for an ambient range of -20 to 85 C, so zone 2 is the highest classification. The listing states that the unit is not intrinsically safe. The enclosure is IP65 and the connection is the standard plug with Pg 9 entry.

Mount the unit with the NPT thread tightened by the hexagon and avoid stressing the electrical plug. Confirm the thread type, the range and the sealed gauge reference before ordering. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat; send us 060G1052 with the quantity for a quotation.

Commissioning is straightforward: wire the loop, apply power, and compare the displayed value with a reference gauge at atmospheric pressure, where a sealed gauge unit should read close to zero. Because no adjustment is provided, any larger deviation should be handled by replacing the unit rather than by trimming the controller scaling. Keep a spare in stock for plants with several suction groups.

If 060G1052 is needed for an urgent repair, say so in your first message and name the machine that is stopped. We will check what can be confirmed quickly, although delivery times are never promised until the supplier has answered the enquiry in writing.

Checking that the range fits the refrigerant and the duty

A transmitter should be chosen so that normal operating pressure sits well inside its span, with the lowest expected pressure, including pull-down and off-cycle conditions, and the highest pressure during standstill or defrost both considered. On the suction side of many refrigeration and air-conditioning plants, the pressure can drop toward vacuum during pump-down and rise considerably when the plant stops in a hot machine room. The -1 to 12 bar range of the 060G1052 covers vacuum and moderate positive pressure; compare it with the saturation pressures of your refrigerant at the lowest and highest temperatures the measuring point will see.

  • Confirm the measuring point is a suction line, evaporator or low-pressure receiver rather than a discharge or condenser line.
  • Check the 1/4-18 NPT male connection against the fitting on the plant.
  • Make sure the controller input accepts a 4 to 20 mA signal and is scaled to the same range.
  • Check that the Ex marking suits the area classification of the machine room if one applies.

Wiring and loop checks

Wire the 4 to 20 mA loop as shown in the Danfoss data sheet and check that the controller input and loop supply match it. Use cable that fits the Pg 9 entry of the plug so the IP65 rating is maintained, and route the signal cable away from compressor motor cables and frequency converter outputs. Keep the cable entry facing downward where possible so condensation runs away from the plug.

When the system is commissioned, compare the reading at several operating states with a calibrated reference, not only at atmospheric pressure. Note the readings in the commissioning report so later drift can be identified quickly.

Machine rooms and rooftop units in the Gulf climate

Refrigeration plants in Oman and the GCC often run under heavy load in summer, with hot machine rooms and rooftop condensing units in direct sun. The transmitter body is stainless steel and the ambient range is wide, but the compensated temperature band is narrower, so mount the unit where it is shielded from direct radiation and hot discharge lines when possible. Suction lines are cold and humid air condenses on them; insulate around the mounting point as far as practical without covering the electrical plug. In coastal sites, inspect the plug and cable entry during routine maintenance and look for corrosion on nearby fittings.

What to send for a quotation

Include the Danfoss code number 060G1052, the quantity, the refrigerant and the location of the measuring point, the controller the signal will feed and any hazardous-area requirement. If you are replacing an existing transmitter, send a photo of its label so the range and connection can be compared.

About brand

Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

  • 1939: 26 employees. By the 10th anniversary in 1943 the company has 179.
  • 1950s: Rapid growth turns Nordborg into a Danfoss town with housing and schools for its workforce.
  • 1968: Danfoss launches its VLT frequency converter, one of the first mass-produced AC drives.
  • 2014: Acquisition of the Finnish drives maker Vacon, now the VACON brand.
  • 2021: Acquisition of Eaton's hydraulics business.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.

Where Danfoss products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.
