Danfoss 078G5020 DST P40M Titanium Pressure Transmitter 0-4 bar

Description

DST P40M: a titanium pressure transmitter for seawater, scrubbers and desalination

Danfoss 078G5020 is a DST P40M with a 0 to 4 bar gauge range and a 4 to 20 mA output. The data sheet explains that this transmitter was designed for the pressure monitoring of ballast water treatment systems, exhaust gas scrubbers, desalination and seawater cooling, where corrosion resistance and a long life are decisive.

The enclosure is machined from one piece of titanium to avoid weak points, and the sensing element is 96 % alumina ceramic with a thick-film Wheatstone bridge. Titanium resists chloride and polluted water, which makes the device an alternative to stainless steel where stainless pits.

Low-range cautions

At 4 bar the overload figure is only 8 bar, with a burst pressure of 12 bar, so this variant must be fitted downstream of any pump with a damper or at least with a protective valve arrangement. Do not use it where water hammer is possible. The data sheet does not integrate a pulse-snubber, so add a throttle or a snubber in the line if surges can occur.

The medium range is -15 to 85 C and the compensated range 0 to 80 C. Marine approvals are listed with KR, NKK and DNV GL, which suits shipboard use; confirm which class certificate your vessel needs.

Ordering notes

Compare the range with the actual pump head and the static head, then choose the next range up if the figure is close to 4 bar. The plug is the standard EN 175301-803-A connector with a Pg 9 gland.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and can quote 078G5020; please state the medium, the vessel class and the quantity.

On a ship, ballast and scrubber circuits are inspected during class surveys, and a titanium transmitter with a listed marine approval is easier to defend than an unapproved substitute. Keep the data sheet and the order record with the survey file. Replacement intervals depend on the vessel maintenance plan, not on a figure from the sensor data, so follow the planned maintenance system. Send us the vessel name, the system and the class society if you want the quotation to mention them.

Projects that use 078G5020 often need related parts from the same manufacturer, such as connectors, mounting parts or spare kits. Mention them in the same enquiry so that compatibility can be checked together rather than discovered on site, when a missing part stops the work.

About brand

Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

Danfoss company profile

First product Thermostatic expansion valve for refrigeration
Headquarters Nordborg, Denmark
Ownership Private; majority controlled by the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation and the Clausen family
Size About 42,000 employees (2023)
Business segments Danfoss Climate Solutions (refrigeration, air conditioning and heating), Danfoss Drives (VLT and VACON frequency converters, soft starters), Danfoss Power Solutions (mobile and industrial hydraulics)
Brands in the group VLT, VACON, Eaton Hydraulics (bought 2021), Ikusi radio remote controls

Milestones

  • 1932–1933: First expansion valve; the company is founded in Nordborg.
  • 1939: 26 employees. By the 10th anniversary in 1943 the company has 179.
  • 1950s: Rapid growth turns Nordborg into a Danfoss town with housing and schools for its workforce.
  • 1968: Danfoss launches its VLT frequency converter, one of the first mass-produced AC drives.
  • 2014: Acquisition of the Finnish drives maker Vacon, now the VACON brand.
  • 2021: Acquisition of Eaton's hydraulics business.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.

Where Danfoss products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.

Ordering Danfoss products: what we need

Send the Danfoss code number from the label (for example 032U7115 or 131B0149) or the full drive type code (FC-302P3K0T5...). For drives, add the motor power, supply voltage and any fieldbus option. For valves, add the size, connection, medium and coil voltage. For pressure switches and transmitters, add the range, output and pressure connection.
