Danfoss 060G6100 MBS 1700 Pressure Transmitter 0-6 bar

Description

MBS 1700: the general-purpose Danfoss transmitter in a 6 bar version

Danfoss 060G6100 is an MBS 1700, which the data sheet presents as a compact general-purpose transmitter that gives a reliable reading even under harsh ambient conditions. Housing and wetted parts are acid-resistant AISI 316L stainless steel, the output is 4 to 20 mA, and the whole unit is fully digitally compensated.

This code covers 0 to 6 bar gauge, a range that suits water circuits, compressed-air receivers at low pressure, filter differential monitoring on a single side and general process utilities. Its price and size make it a typical replacement item on pump skids.

Choosing between the MBS 1700 and the MBS 1750

The 1700 has no pulse-snubber. The MBS 1750 adds one and uses a G 1/4 DIN 3852-E connection, so it is the right choice when a valve closes quickly or a pump starts and stops often. The data sheet explains that cavitation, liquid hammer and pressure peaks may occur even at low operating pressures; for such lines order the 1750 code instead.

The overload limit of this code is 36 bar, six times the range, derived from the store figure. Accuracy is 0.5 % typical and 1 % maximum of full scale with 0.5 % non-linearity, so it is a good fit for monitoring and alarms rather than for custody transfer.

Installation and ordering

The male G 1/4 thread to EN 837 is sealed with a flat or profile gasket. Fit it by the 27 mm hexagon, orient the angular plug so that the cable drips away from the gland, and keep it away from steam lines, since the medium limit is 85 C. The IP65 rating is for a properly fitted plug with its seal.

Check the loop power supply, the range and the output before ordering. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat; send 060G6100 with the quantity for a quotation.

For a pump skid, a spare MBS 1700 on the shelf shortens the outage when a transmitter fails, because the connection and plug are the same as on the existing unit. After replacement, compare the reading with a calibrated gauge at two points of the 0 to 6 bar range, and record the result in the maintenance file. Transmitters in water service should not be allowed to freeze, since ice in the port can damage the sensing element.

Our quotation for 060G6100 will state what is included, such as the document set and the packing, and what is not, for instance accessories or commissioning. Read these lines against your specification, and ask us to adjust the scope if your project requires something extra.

Typical applications for a low-range general-purpose transmitter

A low gauge range such as this is common wherever pressures are modest but still need to be monitored continuously. Examples include the suction and discharge sides of water pumps in building services, cooling water and chilled water circuits, low-pressure compressed air lines, washdown systems and general utility headers in factories. In each case the transmitter converts pressure into a standard current signal that a controller, drive or alarm unit can use to start or stop equipment, warn of low or high pressure, or simply record trends.

The stainless steel housing and wetted parts make the MBS 1700 suitable for water and many other media that are compatible with that material, while the compact body helps where space on a skid or manifold is tight.

Selection considerations

Choose the range so that normal operating pressure sits comfortably within it, not at the upper end, which leaves room for normal fluctuations and keeps the reading in the useful part of the scale. Check that the medium and ambient temperatures at the mounting point fall within the published limits, and confirm that the process connection and angular plug match the existing installation or the project standard. As explained above, lines with fast-closing valves, frequent pump starts or risk of liquid hammer are better served by the MBS 1750 code.

Integration with control and monitoring systems

The two-wire current output is accepted by most PLC analogue inputs, building management controllers, variable speed drives and panel indicators. A current signal is less sensitive to cable length and electrical noise than a voltage signal, which helps on skids where the transmitter is some distance from the panel. When scaling the input in the controller, use the range of this code so that the displayed value matches the actual pressure, and set alarm limits that reflect the process rather than the transmitter range.

On pump systems the signal is often used for constant-pressure control through a drive, where a stable and responsive reading supports smooth regulation.

Site practice in Oman and the GCC

Many pump skids in the region are installed outdoors or in hot plant rooms. Shade the transmitter from direct sun where possible, since metal surfaces can become very hot, and route the cable so that water does not run along it into the plug. Keep the transmitter clear of hot pipework and check that the enclosure rating suits the location, particularly where washdown or dust is present.

Periodic comparison against a calibrated reference, as described above, helps detect drift early and supports maintenance records for audit purposes. Recording the code number and installation location of each transmitter also makes reordering straightforward when a unit has to be exchanged.

Where several transmitters of the same type are used across a site, standardising on one code simplifies documentation, training and stocking decisions, and lets technicians handle installation and checks in a consistent way on every skid.

About brand

Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.

Where Danfoss products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.
