Overview

The CEMB N600 is a portable, dual-channel vibration analyzer and dynamic balancer built for field service engineers and predictive maintenance teams working on rotating machinery. Measurement and Operating Principle

The N600 accepts two independent, simultaneous measurement channels from accelerometers, velocimeters, or non-contact probes, together with a dedicated photocell tachometer channel for speed and phase reference using a 250,000 RPM laser photocell. A 24-bit A/D converter digitizes the incoming signals, which the instrument processes to report overall vibration in acceleration (g), velocity (mm/s or inch/s), or displacement (µm or mils), expressed as RMS, peak, or peak-to-peak values across user-defined or predefined frequency bands from 3Hz to 20kHz.

For diagnostic work, the N600 performs FFT frequency analysis with selectable maximum frequency (25Hz to 15kHz) and resolution up to 3200 lines, with up to 16 averages and automatic listing of dominant peaks – identifying characteristic fault frequencies such as imbalance, misalignment, bearing defects, or gear mesh issues. For corrective work, its guided balancing routine walks the technician step by step through single- or dual-plane balancing, calculating the vectorial unbalance and recommending correction weights to add or remove, using the 1x fundamental vibration amplitude and phase measured relative to the photocell reference.

Engineering Design of the CEMB N600

The N600 is housed in a rugged, rubber-armored enclosure measuring approximately 225 x 200 x 50mm and weighing 1.4kg, designed to withstand daily handling in plant and field environments from −10°C to +50°C and up to 95% humidity without condensation. Its 7-inch color LED-backlit TFT LCD provides high-visibility readouts of waveforms, spectra, and balancing vectors even in bright industrial lighting, controlled through a tactile keypad with dedicated function keys for rapid navigation between measurement modes.

Power is supplied by a rechargeable 6Ah lithium battery offering more than eight hours of typical use per charge, with full recharge in under five hours via the included 100–240V charger. The instrument ships in a rigid carry case complete with two accelerometers, a laser photocell, cabling, an angular reference ruler, adhesive reflective tape, and a USB memory stick with documentation, providing a complete field-ready balancing and vibration diagnostic kit. Two USB ports support data transfer to CEMB’s optional N-Pro-6 professional software and Route Manager software for predictive maintenance route-based monitoring programs.
