Additel ADT760A / 760S Automatic Handheld Pressure Calibrator

Pump, controller and calibrator in under two kilograms

The Additel ADT760A generates and controls pressure from a built-in electric pump, measures the result with a precision internal module and runs the whole procedure from a 4.95 inch touchscreen. It replaces a hand pump, a reference gauge and a loop calibrator on low-pressure transmitter and switch work, and at less than 4 lb (1.8 kg) it can be carried up a ladder to a gas skid. The 760A series is the upgraded successor to Additel’s earlier 760, extending the range to 375 psi and adding a contamination prevention option.

The ADT760S is the same pneumatic engine without the PC functions and electrical channel, for users who only need pressure generation and control. Everything on this page applies to both unless marked as 760A only.

Key capabilities

Selecting a configuration

The order code follows the pattern ADT760A-MA-02-CP100-PSI-DL: model type, accuracy (01 to 20), the internal module range, the range unit and the optional DL suffix. LLP suits draft and furnace pressure work, D suits control-room transmitters and differential applications up to 35 psi, and MA covers most field pressure transmitters up to 375 psig. If your jobs are mostly below 100 psi, choose a smaller internal module (for example CP100) rather than the 375 psi module so that the 0.01% or 0.02% span figure applies to a tighter range. The ADT155 module table lists differential modules down to +/-0.25 inH2O and absolute modules to 15 psia.

Handling and maintenance notes

The datasheet cautions that hoses and filters, pneumatic and hydraulic alike, have an estimated end-of-life of about 10 years and should be replaced at the first sign of wear or damage. The manual warns that dust or contaminants may blow out of the VENT port, and Additel offers an optional contamination prevention system, part 9231 (not for the LLP). Keep the ambient temperature within 0 to 50 C, because the internal modules are compensated only inside that window, and allow the unit to stabilise when moved between air-conditioned and outdoor conditions.

Typical uses in Oman and the GCC

Instrument technicians at gas plants, power stations and water facilities check pressure transmitters, switches and gauges in situ, often at heights or in tight skids where a heavy bench calibrator is impractical. The 760A lets one person set a pressure, read the transmitter output and record the result, and the DL version stores the task for the maintenance system. Burner management, boiler draft and HVAC differential pressure work fit the LLP and D versions.

Selection and installation notes

Pressure instruments are only as good as their set-up. Check that the pressure range and fitting thread match the system, use the correct adapter and seal, vent the line before connecting and keep the device within its stated temperature range. Leave time for the reading to settle and zero the instrument at atmospheric pressure when the procedure requires it. Keep calibration certificates on file, and plan the re-calibration interval according to your quality system and the duty of the instrument.

For a calibrator with an internal pump, connect the device under test with clean, dry tubing, keep liquids away from the pump port and use the contamination prevention option where the device may contain oil or moisture.
