Bently Nevada 330780-51-00 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor, 5 m DIN
Description
330780-51-00: 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor Sensor, 5.0 m system, DIN mount
The Bently Nevada 330780-51-00 is a 3300 XL 11 mm Proximitor Sensor for the 5.0 m (16.4 ft) system length with DIN-rail mounting and no approval option. It pairs with 11 mm probes where a 4.0 mm (160 mil) linear range is needed, such as axial thrust position or ramp measurements.
In the 330780-AA-BB scheme the code 51 selects a 5.0 m DIN-mounted system and the code 00 means agency approvals are not required.

Signal conditioning in the 330780-51-00
Inside the sensor, an oscillator feeds the probe coil and a demodulator turns the loaded coil signal into dc plus ac output. The 11 mm tip gives half the sensitivity of an 8 mm system, 3.94 V/mm (100 mV/mil), in exchange for twice the usable gap: 0.5 to 4.5 mm in the standard range and up to 5.0 mm in the extended range when no zener barriers are used. The sensor is factory calibrated to AISI 4140 steel unless another target material is requested.
330780-51-00 for 5 m thrust and rod-position channels
A 5.0 m system is the shorter of the two lengths and is typical when the cabinet or junction box is close to the machine. The probe and extension must add up to 5.0 m: a 1.0 m probe with a 4.0 m extension, or a 5.0 m probe with no extension.
With the DIN version the sensor sits on a rail alongside other channels, which suits thrust-bearing groups where several position probes share a junction box. The datasheet also positions the 3300 XL 11 mm line as a replacement path for 7200-series 11 mm and 14 mm systems, provided every component and the monitor configuration are updated together.

Selection and ordering checklist for 330780-51-00
- Confirm total system length is 5.0 m (probe plus extension)
- Confirm DIN-rail mounting instead of panel
- Confirm 11 mm probe model and thread (1/2-20, 5/8-18, M14 x 1.5, M16 x 1.5 or reverse mount)
- Decide whether approvals are required; option 05 is a different part
- Check the monitor channel is configured for the 11 mm range
- Confirm the target size is at least 30.5 mm diameter
Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the 330780-51-00
Mount on the rail, connect the field cable to the SpringLoc terminals and attach the extension cable until the ClickLoc connectors click. Protect the joint with connector protectors for humid or damp locations.
Verify the installation by moving the shaft through its travel and confirming the output with a multimeter or the monitor. The datasheet requires the sensor to be installed so terminals reach IP54 when used under its hazardous-area approvals.
- Use 40113-02 protector kit or 40180-02 protector pairs for field fitting
- Standard 1/2-20 probe cases ship with a 3/4 inch lock nut; the correct torque keeps the probe from rotating
- Tip spacing of about 64 mm for axial probes limits cross-talk
- Inspect the cable bend radius of 25.4 mm (1.0 in)
- Carry one spare sensor for each length and mounting style
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
The 330780-51-00 is typical for compressor and turbine thrust positions, tachometer and zero-speed pickups and reciprocating compressor rod-drop monitoring in oil and gas and petrochemical sites in the region. In hot, dusty plants, locating the sensor in a rail-mounted cabinet away from machine heat is a practical design choice, and the 5 m reach covers most skid-mounted machines.

A proximity probe measures the gap to the shaft, so it sees shaft movement inside a fluid-film bearing directly. A velocity or acceleration sensor sits on the casing and suits rolling-element bearing machines. Critical turbomachinery usually carries two X-Y probes per bearing, two axial probes for thrust position and a Keyphasor probe for speed and phase.
Where Bently Nevada systems are used
In Oman and the GCC, Bently Nevada racks and probes protect gas turbines, compressors and steam turbines in gas processing, LNG, refining, petrochemical, power and desalination plants. Many installations are 3500 racks that have run for years, so most requests are for like-for-like module, probe, extension cable and proximitor replacements, plus upgrades to newer monitors.
Ordering and replacement: what we need
For probes and proximitors, send the full part number with all option digits (for example 330101-00-27-10-02-05). The digits set the probe length, cable length, connector and approvals, and the probe, cable and proximitor must match in total system length. For 3500 modules, send the module and I/O part numbers from the rack and say whether the I/O is internal or external termination, or barrier type. If a module is obsolete, we quote the replacement that Bently Nevada names and point out any configuration or firmware change.
