C-TEC ZFP CAST Analogue Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel

Description

The C-TEC CAST ZFP is a touchscreen-controlled analogue addressable fire alarm control panel for C-TEC’s own CAST protocol. The standard cabinet takes one, two or four loops, each supporting up to 255 CAST detectors and call points, and the manufacturer certifies the panel through the LPCB to EN54 parts 2 and 4. It suits buildings where a colour touchscreen, a large zone count and loop capacity matter more than the compact two-line display of the XFP range, for example hotels, hospitals, industrial plants and multi-building sites.

What the panel offers beyond the loop

The manual lists a 4.3 inch colour touchscreen with separate LEDs for the mandatory EN54 indications, three access levels with keyswitch entry to level 2, an investigation delay that can be set per zone, individual sensitivity settings for each device, a real-time clock with automatic daylight saving and a 9,999 event memory. Programming is done with C-TEC’s PC tools through the isolated USB port. Two independently programmable conventional sounder circuits are built in, and a peripheral A-Bus allows up to 15 further PCBs such as relay, input-output and sounder circuit boards. Zone dependency options under EN54-2 clause 7.12 and the other optional EN54-2 functions are described in the manual, and some functions go beyond EN54-2 and must not be used if the approval label is to be applied.

Choosing a model and planning the system

Pick the number of loops from the device count and the way the building is divided, and decide whether the 40 zone indication versions are needed; the panel is capable of 200 zones but was tested and approved as a 40 zone panel. The CAST ZFP only works with CAST and CAST-PRO loop devices, so detectors, call points, sounders and interface modules on the project must carry the CAST protocol. A standby battery calculation guide is included in Appendix 5 and the standard cabinet holds two batteries of up to 17 Ah. Mains wiring must be on a dedicated, earthed supply.

Documents and quotation

The linked file is the C-TEC CAST ZFP installation, maintenance and programming manual (68 pages, document DFU5030000 Rev 5), the manufacturer’s own document. Before ordering confirm the model code, the number of loops, the zone indication option, the approvals the local authority requires and the CAST device list. For a smaller single-loop alternative see the C-TEC XFP501/CA, or browse fire and gas logic controllers. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, will prepare a quotation from your project requirements.

About brand

C-TEC has made life safety electronics in Wigan, United Kingdom since 1981: fire alarm panels, detectors, power supplies, disabled refuge and call systems. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists C-TEC panels and detectors such as the XFP501/CA single loop addressable fire panel, the CP416 CAST-PRO addressable optical smoke detector and the CFP708-4 eight zone conventional fire alarm panel.

C-TEC fire alarm families

The manufacturer divides fire systems into conventional and addressable. On the conventional side are the CFP panels in 2 to 8 zones, with ActiV detectors, sounders and call points. On the addressable side, XFP panels cover one or two loops and ZFP panels up to eight, working with C-TEC's own CAST protocol and CAST-PRO devices. Addressable panels are also made for Apollo XP95 and Discovery and for Hochiki ESP devices, so the protocol of a panel must match the detectors on its loop. EN54-4 power supplies, SigTEL refuge systems and EVAC-ALERT panels complete the range.

Ordering C-TEC equipment: what we need

Send the full part number including the suffix after the slash, which separates protocol versions of the same panel. Tell us the detector protocol already on site, the number of loops or zones, and any network or repeater requirement. For projects in the GCC, name the approval the consultant specifies so we request the matching certificates from the manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which loop devices work with the CAST ZFP?
The CAST ZFP uses C-TEC's CAST protocol, so it needs CAST and CAST-PRO loop devices. Apollo XP95 or Discovery devices need the separate Apollo version of the ZFP.
How many devices can one loop carry?
The manual states up to 255 CAST detectors and call points per loop, with a maximum of 512 detectors and call points per panel.
How many zones does the panel support?
Up to 200 programmable zones, although the panel was tested and approved as a 40 zone panel.
Which standards does the standard cabinet panel meet?
The manual states that it is LPCB certified to EN54-2 and EN54-4 and lists CPR and UKCA certificates for each model.
How is the panel programmed?
With C-TEC's PC programming tools over the galvanically isolated USB connection, with the touchscreen used for operation and engineering menus.
