C-TEC ZFP Apollo Networkable Addressable Fire Alarm Panel

Description

The C-TEC ZFP networkable panel is the Apollo XP95 / Discovery version of C-TEC’s touchscreen addressable fire alarm control panel. It is built in three cabinet sizes: a standard cabinet for one, two or four loops, and medium and large cabinets for up to eight loops, with an optional Hi-NET multipath network for linking panels on large or multi-building sites. It is aimed at projects where the detectors on site already speak the Apollo protocol, for example when an existing Apollo loop is being kept or a specification names Apollo devices.

Network, display and programming

The manual describes Hi-NET as a fault-tolerant RS485 network with up to 126 nodes, of which at most 64 may be eight-loop panels, and up to 1 km between nodes; it also states that networking is not EN54-2 approved. The 4.3 inch touchscreen carries the mandatory EN54 indications, and up to 200 separate zone LEDs, switches and printers can be added through Switch and Indicator modules (Z44 to Z51), with one control and display module (Z41) required. A peripheral A-Bus supports up to 15 further PCBs, and the panel has an RS232 port for pagers, DECT telephone systems or a graphics interface, plus a galvanically isolated USB port for the PC tools.

Selecting cabinet size and loops

Choose the standard cabinet when one to four loops are enough; it fits batteries up to 18 Ah. The medium and large cabinets take 38 Ah batteries and up to eight loops, but the manual states they are not EN54-2 approved, which matters when the specification demands a certified panel. Each loop supports 126 Apollo addressable devices, so confirm device numbers per loop and the loop cable length (1 km maximum, 20 ohm per conductor). Compact controllers for the network, flush or surface mounted, are also shown in the appendix. Check the exact order code with the supplier because the document lists the configuration options rather than a single part number.

Documents and quotation

The linked file is the C-TEC ZFP networkable analogue addressable fire alarm panel installation and programming manual (64 pages, document DFU5000503 Rev 10). Before ordering confirm the cabinet size, number of loops, network requirement, the approvals the local authority requires and that the loop devices use the Apollo XP95 or Discovery protocol. If the project uses C-TEC’s own CAST devices, see the C-TEC XFP501/CA family or the CAST ZFP panel; other controllers are listed under fire and gas logic controllers. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, will prepare a quotation from your project requirements.

About brand

C-TEC has made life safety electronics in Wigan, United Kingdom since 1981: fire alarm panels, detectors, power supplies, disabled refuge and call systems. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Oman, lists C-TEC panels and detectors such as the XFP501/CA single loop addressable fire panel, the CP416 CAST-PRO addressable optical smoke detector and the CFP708-4 eight zone conventional fire alarm panel.

C-TEC fire alarm families

The manufacturer divides fire systems into conventional and addressable. On the conventional side are the CFP panels in 2 to 8 zones, with ActiV detectors, sounders and call points. On the addressable side, XFP panels cover one or two loops and ZFP panels up to eight, working with C-TEC's own CAST protocol and CAST-PRO devices. Addressable panels are also made for Apollo XP95 and Discovery and for Hochiki ESP devices, so the protocol of a panel must match the detectors on its loop. EN54-4 power supplies, SigTEL refuge systems and EVAC-ALERT panels complete the range.

Ordering C-TEC equipment: what we need

Send the full part number including the suffix after the slash, which separates protocol versions of the same panel. Tell us the detector protocol already on site, the number of loops or zones, and any network or repeater requirement. For projects in the GCC, name the approval the consultant specifies so we request the matching certificates from the manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which protocol does this ZFP version use?
The manual states Apollo XP95 / Discovery. A CAST ZFP exists for C-TEC's own protocol and the two are not interchangeable.
How many loops can a ZFP carry?
The standard cabinet takes 1, 2 or 4 loops; the medium and large cabinets take 1 to 8 loops.
How many devices per loop?
126 addressable devices per loop, with a maximum of 512 detectors and call points per panel.
Is the networked version EN54-2 approved?
No. The manual states that the optional Hi-NET networking and the medium and large cabinets are not EN54-2 approved.
How many nodes can a Hi-NET network have?
Up to 126 nodes, of which at most 64 can be 8-loop panels, with up to 1 km of cable between nodes.
