Kidde CARDOX Low-Pressure CO2 Fire Suppression System
Description
Bulk CO2 storage for multi-hazard sites
The Kidde CARDOX Low-Pressure (LP) CO2 system stores carbon dioxide in a bulk refrigerated tank instead of in banks of high pressure cylinders. Kidde Fire Systems presents it as a cost-effective choice for areas that need multiple suppression cycles, expansion capability, several hazards from one supply, or more than 5,000 lb of CO2. CO2 extinguishes by diluting the oxygen that supports combustion and is applied by total flooding or by local application.
Technical specifications
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| System | CARDOX low-pressure CO2, bulk storage unit, total flooding or local application |
| Suited to | Multiple suppression cycles, expansion, numerous hazards, more than 5,000 lb of CO2 |
| Storage | Bulk low-pressure storage units suitable for indoor or outdoor placement |
| Reserve supply | Obtained without complicated manifolds or valves; multiple discharges possible without switching to reserve |
| Maintenance | No hydrostatic testing; liquid-level gauge continuously monitors stored agent; fill connections accessible without plant personnel |
| Approvals as printed | Factory Mutual; CSA and PED certifications available upon request |
| Typical applications | Automotive industry, cement plants, coal handling, grinding and storage, fume handling, high voltage switchgear buildings, industrial fryer lines, power generation enclosures, printing, rolling mills and metal processing, warehouses and flammable materials storage |
Why choose low pressure
The sell sheet lists economy as a core advantage: low-pressure CO2 is less expensive to replenish and needs a smaller footprint for agent storage than cylinder banks. Because liquid level is gauged continuously, there is no need to weigh cylinders, and the tank does not require hydrostatic retesting. Low-pressure systems allow multi-hazard protection from a common piping system, with automatic simultaneous discharge designed for several hazards.
CO2 is odorless, colorless and electrically non-conductive, leaves no residue and works on surface and deep-seated fires. The manufacturer notes it is not recommended for normally occupied spaces unless other means of fire protection are not effective, so personnel safety measures are part of every design.
What to confirm before ordering
Send the list of hazards, protected volumes and areas, the total CO2 quantity, the site location for the tank (indoor or outdoor), ambient conditions, and the approvals required. The sell sheet does not give tank sizes, capacities or part numbers, so these come from the manufacturer’s engineering. Delivery, installation, filling and commissioning are carried out by a qualified fire protection contractor, and the supplier can pass on specification details for a quotation.
Documents and quotation
You can download the manufacturer’s sell sheet SS K-109 (2 pages) from this page. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. Price, delivery time and availability are quoted once we have the part number, quantity and delivery location. A matching high pressure option is covered on the Kidde HPCO2 page, and other fire-fighting items are in Fire Fighting.

About brand
Engineered fire suppression hardware, cylinders, valves and the control heads that release them, is the side of Kidde that industrial sites deal with. The name goes back to 1917. Seven Star LLC lists Kidde clean agent cylinders, control heads and pilot cylinders, and supplies Kidde fire systems parts to operators and fire contractors in Oman as an independent supplier. Household smoke alarms and aircraft systems sold under the same name are outside our scope.
Kidde fire suppression parts listed here
The listed items are release-train components: the WK-890181-000 electric control head, a 24 V DC unit used on Kidde FM-200 systems, an FM-200 (HFC-227ea) clean agent cylinder in the 200 lb size, and the K62462 pilot gas cylinder. Kidde also builds high-pressure CO2 systems with their own control heads and nitrogen pilot cylinders. Typical sites in the GCC are turbine enclosures, switchgear and control rooms, data halls and marine machinery spaces.
Ordering Kidde parts: what we need
Kidde components are ordered by part number, so send it exactly as printed on the label or in the system drawings. For an agent cylinder we also need the fill weight, valve type and the transport documents required. Send the nameplate photo and the system design reference whenever possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
CARDOX stores CO2 as a refrigerated liquid in a bulk tank, while HPCO2 uses seamless steel cylinders at ambient temperature. The sell sheet recommends LP for more than 5,000 lb of CO2 or multiple discharges.
The sell sheet states low-pressure CO2 systems do not require hydrostatic testing.
A liquid-level gauge continuously monitors the amount stored, so weighing is not needed.
The sell sheet says bulk low-pressure storage units are suitable for indoor or outdoor placement.
Factory Mutual approval is printed, with CSA and PED certifications available on request.
