Brand:

Tapflo TD100 PE and PTFE Diaphragm Drum Pump

Description

A light drum pump for emptying containers with air power

The TD100 is the largest PE and PTFE drum pump in Tapflo's TD series: a diaphragm pump on a handle and drum tube, moved easily between drums, IBCs and containers. It delivers up to 125 l/min through a 1 1/4 inch suction and 1 inch discharge, and the drum tube can be supplied in any length up to 2 m. The tube is polypropylene or PTFE and the handle is AISI 316L stainless steel.

Why a diaphragm drum pump

Unlike a motorised immersion tube, the TD has no motor or shaft seal in the liquid and can run dry without damage. It is air operated, needs no electricity and can work against a closed discharge valve, so it is practical in hazardous or wet areas. Flow is controlled by the air pressure and a valve on the air line. Because the pump is carried by the handle, the tube length should match the drum height, and the suction lift limits of 3.5 m dry and 9 m wet apply to the TD100.

Materials, diaphragms and explosive atmospheres

Tapflo diaphragms are multilayer composites: a PTFE TFM layer, a front layer, a metal core, a fabric layer and a back layer, bonded together and compression moulded for millions of cycles with a smooth surface that is easy to keep clean. The air valve sits in the centre between the diaphragms to shorten the air path, and it is designed to work without lubricated air thanks to its sealing system.

Select PE for abrasive and strongly acidic or alkaline liquids up to 70 C, or PTFE for aggressive chemicals up to 100 C, per the data table. A TD drum pump in conductive PE or PTFE is available for explosive zones: the TX classification is Ex II 2G Ex h IIC T6 to T4 Gb and Ex II 2D Ex h IIIC T60 to T125°C Db for Zone 1, and the TZ classification is Ex II 1G Ex h IIC T6 to T4 Ga for Zone 0. The pump should always be grounded in a hazardous area.

How the Tapflo TD100 works

The TD100 is an air-operated double diaphragm pump. Compressed air moves two diaphragms back and forth through an air valve in the centre. One diaphragm pulls liquid in while the other pushes liquid out, and two pairs of check valves keep the flow in one direction. The pump sits on top of a drum tube, so the liquid is drawn up from the bottom of the drum. There is no motor, no shaft seal in the liquid, and no electricity.

Where the TD100 is used

  • Emptying drums, IBCs and containers
  • Transfer of chemicals and cleaning products
  • Water treatment dosing stock solutions
  • Laboratories and small production plants
  • Places with hazardous or wet areas

Selection checklist for the TD100

  • Material: PE, conductive PE, PTFE or conductive PTFE
  • Flow needed, up to 125 l/min
  • Drum tube length, up to 2 m
  • Tube material: polypropylene or PTFE
  • Air supply of up to 8 bar
  • Liquid temperature, to 70 degrees C for PE and 100 degrees C for PTFE
  • Solids in the liquid, up to 6 mm
  • Hose connections of 1 1/4 inch suction and 1 inch discharge

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes

Match the tube length to the height of the drum, so the pump does not tip. Connect the air line through a filter and a regulator, and connect the discharge hose. Open the air slowly and use the valve on the air line to set the flow. For best life, run the pump at about half of the maximum flow. Rinse the pump after use with a suitable liquid, and check the diaphragms and the check valves at planned times.

TD100 suction lift

The maximum suction lift is 3.5 m when dry and 9 m when wet.

TD100 capacity

The pump delivers 305 ml per stroke with PTFE diaphragms, and up to 125 l/min at the maximum.

TD100 weight

Drum pump records for TD100

Keep the liquid used, the material, the tube length and the diaphragm change dates with the plant file.

Choosing the right TD100 configuration

Pick the wetted material from the chemical compatibility of the liquid. Use the conductive versions where static charge is a risk. Choose the tube length from the drum height, and keep the air supply clean, dry and regulated so the pump runs smoothly for years.

Choosing the right drum pump size

If a larger flow is needed, the Tapflo range also has the TRD20, TD50 and the metal TXD pumps, which fit bigger transfer jobs.

About brand

Tapflo is a Swedish family-owned manufacturer of air-operated diaphragm pumps, centrifugal pumps and process equipment, founded in 1980 in Kungälv, near Gothenburg, by Börje Johansson and Hans Emanuelsson. It started as a supplier and agency for industrial pumps on the Swedish market before designing and building its own pumps. The Tapflo Group now has its own subsidiaries in more than 25 countries.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Tapflo pumps for chemical, water treatment and process users in Oman and the GCC.
