The Boxer 522 is the largest plastic pump in the standard Boxer range, with 2 inch BSPP connections and a rated maximum of 600 l/min. The sheet pairs it with the Boxer 502, the aluminium and AISI 316 version. Large solids handling of up to 8 mm, dry suction lift of 5 m and a pneumatic drive make it a workhorse for tank-farm transfer, sump emptying, chemical bund recovery and filter-press feed.

Handling and installation at this size

A 38 kg to 54 kg pump needs lifting gear and a rigid, flat support. The Boxer manual specifies a horizontal pump axis with the delivery manifold at the top, cylindrical-thread fittings in the same material as the pump, and no rigid pipe connected directly to the ports. Because the 522 moves up to 600 l/min, undersized suction hose is the usual cause of poor performance, so use a hose larger than the port for viscous or negative-suction duty and keep the pump within 2.5 m of the source.

Datasheet accessories are a basket filter in polypropylene or PVDF with G 2 inch fittings, a foot valve, an air regulation kit W8000-20-G, a stroke counter, reinforcement rings and a DIN flange kit; ANSI flanges are on request.

Plan maintenance from day one. The manual contains a scheduled maintenance table plus separate checks for the product circuit and the air circuit, and it lists diaphragm rupture as a residual risk when scheduled maintenance is skipped. Stock spare diaphragms, balls and O-rings in the material fitted to the pump, and keep the nameplate code on file so that replacements match the original configuration.

ATEX and IECEx marking

The 502 and 522 share the family marking: Zone 2 and Zone 22 as standard, Zone 1 and Zone 21 in CONDUCT version on request, and Zone M2 for non-aluminium pumps. The manual keeps the process fluid within the temperature class, so for Zone 1 duty remember that the stated limit is 80°C and that a detection device is needed if that value could be exceeded. The internal area of the pump is not ATEX-rated for powders.
