Brand:

Debem TRA AISI 316 Drum Transfer Pump

Description

A stainless steel drum pump for corrosive and solvent-free chemicals

The TRA is the AISI 316 version of the Debem TR drum transfer pump family, designed to empty drums, IBCs and tanks with a vertical dip tube fitted with a centrifugal impeller. It is supplied with either an 800 W electric motor (TR-EL) or a 300 W pneumatic motor (TR-PM). The sister models are the TRP in polypropylene and the TRF in PVDF; all three use ECTFE impellers, so the tube material is what separates the grades.

Which TR grade to choose

Use the TRP where a polypropylene tube is compatible and the liquid stays below 65 C, the TRF for PVDF compatibility up to 95 C, and the TRA when mechanical strength or a metal tube is preferred. The datasheet lists applications in automotive, chemical, oil and gas, and galvanic and electronic industries. The manual builds the code as TR, then the construction material letter (P, F or A), the tube length in mm (900 or 1200) and the motor type (EL or PN).

How the pump works, and its limits

The impeller sits at the lower end of the dip tube and is driven through the shaft by the motor on top; the manual describes the pump as immersion-only, with built-in protection against the formation of a vortex that would draw in air bubbles. The parts list in the datasheet drawing names the drive coupling, motor fastening ring nut, bearing, delivery duct, dip tube, PTFE bushing with graphite, impeller, suction outlet and shaft. Remember that the electric version has the motor above the drum and that its cable is supplied without a plug.

The TR is an immersion pump and must stand upright, within the minimum and maximum immersion levels marked on it. The manual forbids using it for petrol or other flammable liquids, in explosive atmospheres, for potable liquids, for dry running, for liquids containing suspended solids heavier than the liquid, or when vortex or air bubbles are present at the inlet. Its viscosity statements differ between the technical sheet and the manual, so confirm the limit for the fluid before ordering. Check chemical compatibility of the ECTFE impeller and elastomer gasket as well.

Documents and quotation

The TR technical sheet contains drawings, curves and both motor options. To obtain a quotation send the fluid, temperature, density, viscosity, drum size and tube length, together with the motor voltage or air supply. See other pumps and drum equipment in the catalogue, or compare with the VERDERAIR VA50 AODD pump for transfer from containers.

About brand

Debem is an Italian industrial pump manufacturer based in Busto Arsizio, near Varese, founded in 1982 by Marco De Bernardi. The company builds air-operated double diaphragm pumps, drum transfer pumps, chemical centrifugal pumps and pulsation dampeners, mainly in polypropylene, PVDF, aluminium and AISI 316 L for aggressive and difficult fluids.

Debem pump families

The Boxer, Cubic and FoodBoxer ranges cover air-operated diaphragm pumps from compact sizes to 600 l/min, with ATEX and IECEx versions listed for explosive atmospheres. The TR series drum pumps use electric or pneumatic motors, while the MB, IM, DM and KM series are horizontal, vertical and magnetic-drive centrifugal pumps for chemical duties. Equaflux pulsation dampeners and pump accessories complete the programme.

Requesting a Debem quotation

Send the fluid, temperature, viscosity, solids content, flow and head, the power supply or compressed air available and any hazardous-zone requirement. The technical sheets and manuals give the material codes and options, so the exact pump configuration can be confirmed before an offer is issued.

Frequently Asked Questions

What motors are available for the TRA?
An 800 W, 230 V single-phase electric motor delivering 90 l/min, or a 300 W pneumatic motor delivering 70 l/min with adjustable flow; ATEX motors are available on request.
What tube lengths are offered?
900 mm and 1200 mm; the manual code includes the length, and the pump weighs 4.3 kg or 5.3 kg without the motor.
What temperature can the TRA handle?
3 to 95 C according to the technical sheet, subject to chemical compatibility of the AISI 316, ECTFE and elastomer parts.
Can the TR pumps handle flammable liquids?
No. The manual forbids pumping petrol or flammable liquids and use in explosive atmospheres; the ATEX motor option does not change the manual limits.
How do the TRP and TRF differ?
TRP has a polypropylene casing and tube up to 65 C, TRF has PVDF up to 95 C, and TRA uses AISI 316 up to 95 C; all use ECTFE impellers.
