Debem Cubic 15 Compact Air-Operated Diaphragm Pump

Description

A compact AODD pump for dosing and small-volume chemical transfer

The Cubic 15 is Debem's compact cube-format air-operated diaphragm pump: a 3/8 inch pump of only 105 x 201 x 105 mm that weighs 1.35 kg in polypropylene and delivers up to 17 l/min. It belongs to the Cubic series, which also includes the smaller Midgetbox (1/4 inch, 6 l/min). Because it runs on compressed air alone, it suits places where a small, motor-free pump is needed; Debem's Cubic page shows chemical, galvanic, graphic, ceramic and water-treatment applications, and the pump moves low-viscosity liquids and fluids with fine suspended matter up to 0.5 mm.

Reading the model code

The Cubic manual prints the configuration code on the nameplate. Cubic 15 is coded ICU15 and Midgetbox IMID, followed by letters for the pump body (polypropylene, PP with carbon fibre, PVDF), the air-side and fluid-side diaphragms, balls, ball seats, O-rings and manifold, and ends with version flags: C for CONDUCT, Y for NPT thread and Z for IECEx. The code matters more than the model name, because the same 3/8 inch pump with a PTFE diaphragm, PTFE balls and PVDF body behaves very differently from an NBR and polypropylene combination.

Installation and ATEX notes

Even a small pump must follow the manual: horizontal axis, rigid support, flexible hoses between pump and rigid pipe, a suction on-off valve and clean dried non-lubricated air from 2 to 8 bar. With only 0.5 mm solids passing, use a fine strainer. The Cubic manual states proposed use for liquids with apparent viscosity between 1 and 20,000 cps at 20°C, with negative suction limited to 5000 cps and 1.4 kg/l, and it requires the pump to be earthed in a hazardous area. The listed batch controller and stroke counter allow the pump to be used for counted, repeatable transfers, and a foot valve helps keep the suction line primed between cycles. For a steadier flow the datasheet lists an Equaflux 51 damper, and further accessories are a foot valve, air regulation kit W1000-8-G, batch controller and stroke counter. The Cubic follows the Boxer marking: II 3G Ex h IIB T4 Gc and II 3D Ex h IIIB T135°C Dc X as standard, with II 2G Ex h IIB T4 Gb and II 2D Ex h IIIB T135°C Db X for the CONDUCT version on request.

About brand

Debem is an Italian industrial pump manufacturer based in Busto Arsizio, near Varese, founded in 1982 by Marco De Bernardi. The company builds air-operated double diaphragm pumps, drum transfer pumps, chemical centrifugal pumps and pulsation dampeners, mainly in polypropylene, PVDF, aluminium and AISI 316 L for aggressive and difficult fluids.

Debem pump families

The Boxer, Cubic and FoodBoxer ranges cover air-operated diaphragm pumps from compact sizes to 600 l/min, with ATEX and IECEx versions listed for explosive atmospheres. The TR series drum pumps use electric or pneumatic motors, while the MB, IM, DM and KM series are horizontal, vertical and magnetic-drive centrifugal pumps for chemical duties. Equaflux pulsation dampeners and pump accessories complete the programme.

Requesting a Debem quotation

Send the fluid, temperature, viscosity, solids content, flow and head, the power supply or compressed air available and any hazardous-zone requirement. The technical sheets and manuals give the material codes and options, so the exact pump configuration can be confirmed before an offer is issued.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the Cubic 15?
105 x 201 x 105 mm and 1.35 kg in polypropylene, or 1.6 kg in PVDF, according to the technical sheet.
What is the maximum flow of the Cubic 15?
17 l/min with water at 20 C, immersed suction and open delivery, with a maximum head of 80 m at 8 bar air.
Which materials can be selected?
Polypropylene, conductive polypropylene or PVDF bodies, PTFE or NBR diaphragms, PTFE, AISI 316 L or EPDM balls, and EPDM, NBR, Viton or PTFE O-rings.
What solids can pass?
Only 0.5 mm, so a fine suction strainer is appropriate; the manual requires a strainer where solids may be present.
Is there an ATEX version?
Standard marking is for Zone 2 and Zone 22; the CONDUCT version on request covers Zone 1 and Zone 21, and the zone classification remains the user responsibility.
